I'm a series addict -- mostly Urban Fantasy, Mystery, and Thriller. I love Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child, Steve Berry, James Rollins, Dan Brown, Matthew Reilly, Rick Riordan, Jim Butcher, Ilona Andrews, Charlaine Harris, Stephen King... among others. :)

I've read everything of Charlaine Harris and all of Rick Riordin's YA stuff. Have you read any of his adult novels! I've been curious about them!

I'm almost done with Sookie, halfway through Harper, and haven't started Aurora or Lily yet!

I haven't read any of the Sookie books, but I am a True Blood fan. I might have to try the books one day.

I didn't recognize the avatar, but as soon as I saw the list of authors, I knew it was you :) Good to see you here!

Trained, retired, musician, performer, composer looking for collaborative efforts of a road LESS solo, and one more often traveled, as I am very-well-acquainted with the self-designed, autodidactic curriculum.
I am seeking a Jungian afternoon, less ego-based and myopic.
I feel I need some assistance in relearning the team mentality.
I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving.
-- James Carella

I'm always looking for suggestions to add to my list.

James, I'm also a musician (though I don't play professionally). I'm a timpanist/percussionist with the local community orchestra. What instruments do you play, and what type of music do you enjoy?
Jodie, we hope your first group is everything you hoped it would be! This group is great for book suggestions. I now have more than I could ever read in a lifetime.

Eclectic in taste, and discipline, Kara.
I am a guitar player by trade, classical in music composition -- performance history: improvised fusion.
Thank you for asking.
My paternal grandfather was second-chair flute for the NY Philharmonic.
My mother didn't recognize the guitar as an instrument.
I got used to surprising everyone.

So, my reading list is peppered with psych, learning, and fiction works of varying epochs.
So, I am calling the REST of 2013 as an opportunity to streamline my library, donate some books, and organizing my list of books to read.
ENJOY your Sundays !!

I'm Melinda a 29yr old from NZ. I want to crate a reading Challenge for 2014, my aim is to read as much as possible (ie read instead of spending time surfing the net!). I'm yet to decide on how many books I want to read.
Cheers

Melinda, I am guilty of that, too !!
While NET surfing is excellent, I spend TOO much time online; so for 2014, I think I am not going for a NUMBER of BOOKS read, just TRANSITIONING BACK to LITERATURE as my primary vehicle for information/entertainment.

SO DO I! I get so terribly distracted by the interwebz that hours will go by, and I don't even realize it.
That's a great idea for a New Year's resolution! I might make it mine too...if I could just pull myself away....from...ahh no, I can't. At least, not yet.

Welcome! Way to go with more than doubling your original goal. I wish I could read that many books in a year. Enjoy our group!

Im looking to discover some new books and make some friends with similar interests. I tend to stick to Fantasy/Science Fiction/YA novels but would love to broaden my horizon.

I'm a 20-year-old student who just got accepted into a university, so life might get a little bit hectic here, but I am hoping that this group keeps me focused on reading as well.
In terms of book genres, I really love science fiction and fantasy, as well as general fiction. I've been trying to get through several classics that have been on my list for a while, and my goal is to expose myself to more non-fiction.

I'm trying to read more books that are outside my comfort zone and thought this group would be the best way to go about it as everyone seems to have such varied tastes. I also have a little "book duo" of my own with my best friend who is as much of a bookworm as I am and that has opened my book horizons too.
Looking forward to any recommendations that you can send my way and vice versa.

Genre-wise, I'm pretty open to whatever! I've been reading a bit of YA series/sci-fi/fantasy lately. My least favorite is non-fiction and romance novels.
Hmmm, not sure what else to add other than I'm very excited to be a part of this group and for the holiday season and the new year!
