I am obviously new- and you can probably tell that I joined to get more suggestions on books to read.

Married, father of 3.
I like to read a lot, although I wish I had more time. I travel a lot, and read during my commute to work.
I recently finished, The Girl on The Train, and just started Station Eleven.

lol. No but seriously. I'm a big fantasy reader and enjoy the challenges on GR. Some years I haven't been as proactive about keeping track, so here's to improving that record this year.

My name is Mary Pat and I am a 60-year-old single mom with a crazy job as an IT Manager for a healthcare practice. I also write and hope to finish several projects this year. (I wanted to mention my writing but also want to stress that it is not my reason for joining the group!) My 18-year-old son graduates from high school in June and heads off to start his own life and I am looking forward to returning to some of my own pursuits.
I tend towards science fiction, fantasy, chick lit and, more recently, memoir but love all kinds of stories. I am fairly tolerant and will try almost any kind of book but if the writing is poor or lackluster, it is likely I will not finish it. I tend to figure out the story line fairly early but great writing, great characters and great creativity will keep me there. I especially love when a writer can surprise me. An author who can keep me guessing and engrossed until the very end is likely to get a five star rating!
In joining this challenge, I hope to average a book a week and to vary the kinds of material I read. I especially hope to work in some classics! And some day I want to read a book a day like my 83-year-old dad! :)

I'm Gabs, I'm 20 years old from Bulgaria and I'm in love with books and reading, I've had a Goodreads profile for about an year now, and I finally decided to be more active with it. Also this year I ambitiously embarked on the 50 books challenge despite having a ton of side books connected to my studies to read and getting hooked on Wheel of Time (I managed to sneak some of the books in my challenge but I get the feeling that I'll be reading both the Wheel and all the other books at the same time)
Anyway, I'm always grateful for recommendations and I like being a part of such a wonderful community that is Goodreads ^.^

I'm 29 years old and love reading. I love studying the Bible, but I also read lots of novels. My taste is quite varied. I get "periods", like fantasy, and then novels, classics and so on:)
I'm not a fast reader though, so I spend some time deciding what to read. 40 books a year average is my guess, but I have so much I want to read so I made my goal 50 books. We will see how it goes :)

This is kind of like a support group for readers, except we only encourage your habit! ;)

Anyway, I am feeling better and hoping for a better 2015. I am looking forward to getting back in the Goodreads game. My favorite genre is historical fiction (heavy on WWII Europe), but I also venture into Contemporary Fiction, Science Fiction, and maybe the occasional Romance.
Happy to be back and looking forward to reconnecting.

My Name is Allison,I'm 44 I live in England UK..... 13 miles from Stratford Upon Avon and Warwick Castle and South of Birmingham.......I love reading books and listening to audiobooks generally non fiction.....mu to a 16 yr old and an 8 yr old......volunteer at local school listening to 4 nd 5 yr olds read and encouraging the positivity of reading

The southeast (Juneau, Ketchikan) is also really cool but kind of closed off and unaccessible. You pretty much have to fly or take a boat to get there but its seriously the most relaxing place I've ever been too. Just tiny towns on the water and beautiful sites. I'd love to live there if it were possible to find a job.

I moved from Anchorage, AK to San Jose, CA two years ago. I'd lived in Anchorage for 11 years. I don't miss the winters (although it looks like you've had a mild one this year) but I do miss the people and the scenery.

Sounds amazing! Someday... When I go I want to stay at a calm place with beautiful scenery if possible and enjoy relaxing and the beauty.
I'm not really the extreme sport type, I just want to see it, to look at the mountains, go for walks and read in a beautiful setting. Maybe a weird dream, but I'm 29 now and I think I have had it since I was probably little, maybe 7/8..

P.S. : please tell me if there are mistakes in this comments and in the others I'll write, I still have to improve my English. Thank you xx

My goal is also 50 books in 2015. We can do it! :D

Hello everyone! I'm Barry and I have recently had the pleasure of getting back into something that I truly love to do. That would be, of course, reading. I have always loved mysteries, thrillers, horror novels, crime/suspense and some of the old classics, but I just have not had the time to devote to reading the past 4-5 years.
I was able to read 14 books last year, so I set a goal of 20 this year. I am also trying out several new (to me) authors and I have yet to be disappointed.
Some of my favorite authors include: John Sandford, James Patterson, William Kent Krueger, Richard Layman, Bentley Little, Frank Perreti, Randy Alcorn, and Dean Koontz. While these are the staples I often return to, I have gained several new ones of late and I am looking for more.
Hi im 28 and joined goodreads in december 2014 I have read many book but decided I'm only going to put the books in read shelf as I read them instead of getting feed up trying to remember book I ve read before this way I can keep a record of them. I love to read anything but not a major fan of poems.

My goal is to read 60 books this year and I am well on my way with 17 read so far. I cannot pick a favorite book, but some of my favorite authors are: Laurell K. Hamilton, Katy Evans, J.R. Ward, Christina Lauren and Stephen King

I like to read fantasy, historical fiction, and graphic novels particularly though I'm interested in all books with a good story!

Love to read!
Am in a monthly F2F book club. Read books in there that I normally would
Not of read... It's good to think out side the box!!!!
Favorite authors.... James Patterson, dean Koontz, Amy tan, Mary Higgins Clark,to name a few..
Linda

In january I set myself a goal of 24 books and I've read 6 so far. I just learned about the popsugar2015 reading challenge, so I'd like to give it a try. But no pressure of course ! Reading is and should stay 100% pleasure !
I'm happy that I found a group to share this fun "adventure" with !
