Joe (club_green_cat) | 16 comments Hi, hope this is the right place to post this...

I start my next Open University module on Saturday, which requires a lot of reading. I'm keen to carry on reading for pleasure too, but think it might be hard, having so much course reading. Can it be done, anyone else have experience of this?

I had the same issue when I was in University. The rule I made for myself was reading fiction at bed time. During then worse rush i usually read book that i knew would not keep me reading late. I also read fiction in moments that i could not concentrate much, for example in a bus or if i was alone out of class room waiting for a class to start.

Janice (jamasc) | 59907 comments No problem, Joe. We moderators have magical powers and can move threads. We encourage people to start threads and we'll simply move them if needs be. :)

I moved yours into Chit Chat About Books. While you are faced with a challenge, the Challenge folder is reserved for the group's monthly challenges.

Pragya (reviewingshelf) | 4027 comments I balance my text reading by reading/ listening to (audio) during travel, listening to it when I am cleaning, cooking, gymming and reading a little before bed or when waiting in a line etc. :) Follow up with more reading on weekends and holidays.

Joe (club_green_cat) | 16 comments Thanks, I've just finished Mudbound and may now go and get a new book. Not sure what though, general fiction methinks. It seems that is my favourite genre. Thanks Pragya, I'll try get some fictional reading in before bed. Janice - just realised you moved my thread, sorry didn't realise the 'challenges' folder was for other stuff.

Joe (club_green_cat) | 16 comments Esther, I forgot to thank you for your reply, sorry! Thanks.

Janice, I did enjoy Mudbound, thanks for suggesting I read it. It had me fooled into thinking Florence had killed Pappy at first, which was a good twist. Have you any other good general fiction book suggestions you can throw my way?

Janice (jamasc) | 59907 comments I'd recommend any of the books that are on my 5-star shelf. You're welcome to go to my profile and look at my shelves.

Dorottya (dorottya_b) | 35 comments I have started an MA for theatre studies last September, and especially this semester, it has been really hard to keep up with other kind of literature than compulsory plays. I used my free time for sleeping and really passive activities to stay relaxed.

I went through university for English, so you can imagine how much reading was required! I had to read for my own pleasure as well though, or I'd go stir-crazy. To balance it all, I would do my necessary class readings at night before dinner, then dedicate an hour to reading for myself. :) I also carried a paperback with me in my school bag, to get a chapter done here and a page there while I rode the bus, waited for class to start, or had some time to kill between classes.
