Oh I'm reading that too. It's good so far, I liked Cecilia and Evelina a lot too.

Now I'm reading Junk by William Burroughs.... not sure why this is a book I needed to read before I die. I'm not loving it.

And today I finished Perfume: The Story of a Murderer. This was wonderfully written, but one of the more bizarre books I've read recently.

we read this for a book club and I kept thinking really? All this over a great sense of smell? It was a bit contrived and unbelievable for me.

It was so good. I really enjoyed how much of it is just a vast portrait of every aspect of French society over a period of over 20 years. The story is amazing, but that is just a small part of what makes it a wonderful book.

I was reluctant to start this book, but I'm reading with a group - the schedule is set for 5 months. But I surprisingly found myself wrapped up in the story immediately and had to stop myself from reading too far ahead of the group. I'm only ~10% in so far.



The Monastery
Absalom, Absalom! by William Faulkner. Pretty amazing, although not an easy read due to the very long sentences (I think there is a sentence with over a thousand words in it). Great story. I liked it so much better than The Sound and the Fury.
