Reggia | 2533 comments June again!

description

How is everyone? Stop in when you can, let us know what's on your mind. :)

Dan | The Ancient Reader (theancientreader) Love the picture, Reggia. First thing that popped into my head when I saw it was To the Lighthouse, which I just finished yesterday. Hope your June will be great.

message 3: by Reggia (new)

Reggia | 2533 comments Thanks, Dan -- good to see you. :)

I am 20 pages from the end of To The Lighthouse; hopefully we can discuss it more now.

Nicole | 1752 comments Happy June, everyone! The approaching weekend is on my mind...and books are waiting for me to read them. ;)

message 5: by Reggia (new)

Reggia | 2533 comments Hi Callista! Happy reading to you!

I need to get busy with my current book pile now instead of surfing the net with this insomnia. I've got a couple already started:

A Tale of Two Cities
Marie Antoinette: A Journey
(finally returned to this and intend to finish this time!)
The World According to Bertie

Nicole | 1752 comments Sorry to hear about the insomnia. Do you find reading helps put you to sleep or does it just wake you up completely?

message 7: by Reggia (last edited Jun 08, 2009 09:04AM) (new)

Reggia | 2533 comments Reading usually puts me to sleep but my problem was that I was so hyped up, I couldn't settle down and let myself read. Doing much better now, and am fairly certain the problem was related to a supplement I was taking. Apparently a small percentage of people react to it this way, lol, I wanted to go out and run in the middle of the night and I don't even like running!

Anyway, how is everyone today? Hope everyone has a great week!

message 8: by Reggia (new)

Reggia | 2533 comments I agree about all that data racing through your head but you may have misunderstood a little, the problem with the computer was that I couldn't seem to turn it off. The SAM-e wasn't truly a medication -- just a supplement but I decided to give it up and keep my sanity. ;) It took a few days but I'm feeling more like myself now.

I enjoy the minor league baseball, too. Not only is it less money but less hassle getting to the stadium, parking and crowds. And this may sound strange but I think they're more interesting to watch -- lots more action from base to base.

message 9: by Nicole (new)

Nicole | 1752 comments I don't like to run, either--night time or any time. ;)
Charly is right, though, in other instances. We all have things we shouldn't do before bed because they just rev our brains up too much. I tried to explain this to a friend who likes to e-mail people in the middle of the night about how she can't sleep, but she just won't listen...!

message 10: by Dan (new)

Dan | The Ancient Reader (theancientreader) Charly and Reggia,

In my opinion, minor league baseball is the best form of live entertainment there is. Which leagues/teams to do get to see? I live in Albuquerque, so I go to the Isotopes games as often as I can. No better way to spend a summer evening than that.

message 11: by Reggia (new)

Reggia | 2533 comments Although living here in Mesa, where so many teams winter for spring training, I haven't seen a game in at least 4 years. But I am from Maryland and as loyal as I am to the Orioles, I've seen the Bowie Baysox play more often.

message 12: by Reggia (new)

Reggia | 2533 comments That sounds very poetic, Charly, and brings back memories of summers elsewhere -- not the golf but those "lengthening shadows" in a summer evening slowly growing cool.

I just put my daughter on the plane to visit back family & friends back east. Now I am free to concentrate on the demand list, e.g. possible move, education, decluttering.

Temperatures have been lower here than normal for which I am very thankful. :)

Anybody have vacation plans for the summer? and for those on the other side of the planet, are you ready for winter?

message 13: by Dan (new)

Dan | The Ancient Reader (theancientreader) Charly,

The way I play golf wouldn't be relaxing even on a pleasant summer evening, although the setting does sound very nice.

message 14: by Reggia (new)

Reggia | 2533 comments The cottage near the beach sounds wonderful! (I haven't seen the ocean for more than 2 years.) Are you leaving for vacation soon?

message 15: by Reggia (new)

Reggia | 2533 comments Well, maybe next summer but it may be the west coast.

message 16: by Reggia (new)

Reggia | 2533 comments How's the weather?

We have been so fortunate so far this June, temps have been under 100°. Just a few days left, so I've got to get out and enjoy them!

message 17: by Nicole (new)

Nicole | 1752 comments Similar problems all over, I think, Gabi.
Sorry it's been so cold, but I'm sure the moisture is useful.

I have just given up saying anything. I have to clamp my jaws shut.

Hey, hey, hey, we'll have none of that. You just keep chatting away. Please, don't make me beg. ;) LOL, I'm exhausted, truly, but dashed in for a moment ... will be alert and present in the morning.

Vicky | 97 comments I'm anxiously awaiting for a call back on possibly one of my paintings to be sold each one is a little different and I just hope this one sells .But reading really helps when all you can do is wait . Still reading tale of two cities reggia ?

message 20: by Reggia (new)

Reggia | 2533 comments Hi Vicky,

Well, I still have a bookmark placed about halfway in A Tale of Two Cities. I cannot believe I have reached the day when I would become too busy or preoccupied to read. I still get in a few pages a night but it is a manuscript that a friend wanted to get my feedback on ... and something completely different than what I would normally read but I am caught up in it.

Did you receive a call back for your painting? How long have you been painting?

We just had the most wonderful June weather, for Phoenix, that is. High temps were below 100° for more than two weeks; it was glorious! Not only the nicest June in my 5 years here but historically the nicest one since 1913. LOL, well, the party's over -- 112 today & yesterday and guess that's it until September. :(

message 21: by Reggia (new)

Reggia | 2533 comments Okay, looking forward to it...

message 22: by Nicole (new)

Nicole | 1752 comments Wow, what a great painting! You're so talented! :)

Reggia | 2533 comments She certainly is! It's a wonderful painting, and a precious memory to treasure in more ways than one. :)
