Ali Syn I do wish people would actually read the book before posting a comment. I like it and I'm looking forward to the next installment.

Please understand that those of you who turned up your nose at the have only damaged your credibility not the author.

Regan I totally enjoyed it and re-read it before reading book 2. I'll probably re-read it again when book 3 comes out it's that good.

D The book is a thriller/paranormal book about a serial killer. What made these folks, who couldn't finish the book, want to read it in the first place? And then to give it a bad review because the concept wasn't to their liking just doesn't make sense.

Personally, I don't enjoy books about child abuse. Therefore, any hint of it in the blurb would deter me from even thinking about reading it. I wouldn't buy the book, complain because I didn't like it and then write a bad review.

Lynsey A I did not finish this book, so I chose not to rate it. However, there are people who actually read the entire book and rated it. Yes, there are some people who didn't finish the book and rated it but they have that right.

However, I don't think it's fair to say that we've damaged our credibility. There was something we didn't like about that book and we didn't want to continue reading something that wasn't enjoyable for us. People chose to let other people know their thoughts. What is wrong with that? Are we not allowed to give a negative review? True enough, we didn't finish the book but if we weren't enjoying it at the beginning what would make us enjoy the rest? Shouldn't we let other readers know our thoughts on why we didn't finish it? To say that we damaged our credibility just because we chose to give a negative review is ludicrous. She has just as many positive reviews as negative so I don't think it hurt her in anyway.

In fact, I like Karen Robards and will continue to read her books, just not this series. I and the others have that right to dislike a book and give a negative review. What works for some, doesn't work for others.

Ali Syn I read the book from cover to cover before giving an opinion of it. That is fair. That is right. That is appropriate. There's nothing wrong with letting others know your thoughts and opinions. I feel it's wrong to take exception to critical comments about those opinions when they are based on incomplete information and therefore well thought out. That method tends to make the reviewer look less than competent.

You have the right to like or dislike anything you want but those of you who didn't finish the book missed out on something really great and you've attempted to stop people from reading the books, too.

It's paranormal in case anyone missed that so you can't possibly offer a proper review unless you've read the whole thing.

Lynsey A Well, we'll agree to disagree. You have the right to state your opinion as does everyone else. Even if they didn't finish the book. I don't think it is inappropriate for us to give our thoughts on a book regardless if we finished it or not. If I were to just leave it empty and someone asks me why I didn't finish it, am I to say "sorry, I can't tell you. I didn't finish the book?" Hardly.

If people decide not to read a book because a review was negative that is their decision. Just because someone reads a negative review doesn't mean it is going to stop someone else from reading the book. I've read plenty of negative reviews and still read the book. Everyone has a difference of opinion on books. If they don't read the book that is their choice. There are tons of negative reviews for books that people did finish, in fact I have several. Should I not write my review of the book just because it may influence someone else not to read it? I can only write positive reviews for books I finished?

Ali Syn Please be careful with your interpretation of my comments. You may write any sort of review you wish. You might even write a negative review and not even see the book. That is up to you. I actually don't care what sort of review you write. It doesn't matter to me what you think.

My point is that stating the book is bad after only a few pages/paragraphs/chapters is not something I like to see. It falls right in with people who don't listen and go ranting when they don't truly understand what they are ranting about.

You don't have to agree with me but just as you gave you "negative" review about the book I felt I had to speak out about people who review only a few pages and try to sound like they have the whole book down pat.
