Hi there. My husband and I are both new as authors to Goodreads. My husband uploaded a PDF copy of his book to Goodreads with the intention of allowing online viewing only. He selected the option to not allow downloads. And yet it is still downloadable--and incredibly easy to do so. All one has to do is click the "open in a new window" button and it opens in Google docs with a huge and obvious button that says "download original".
Did he do something wrong or is this just a flaw in the system?

I just checked mine, I have allowed downloads, but set the sample percentage, so theoretically you shouldn't be able to view more than 5% BUT if I do what you just expected, you can read/download the entire novel :(

The author will always be able to view all. If you want to check then log out of your account and try not logged in, you will then be stopped at the % set.

I checked under my account (he is the author of this particular book and not me...so I was thinking the same thing. But I did not check to see how much % downloaded. Thanks a bunch!

The file I uploaded is a PDF therefore the option of limiting to a certain % is not available.

My concern is not that the PDF is 100% *viewable* on Goodreads.

My concern is that it is also 100% *downloadable* as Amanda mentioned above.

I have tested with a second account, and was able to download the full 98 page PDF.

Any other comments or suggestions on how to fix this glitch are welcome.
