Christy Stewart (christyleighstewart) Aside from the usual economic politics and such, does your being Pagan come into play when you pick a president or other political officials?

message 2: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (triplegoddessmatriarch) No. But if they're an all out idiot, that tells me all I need to know.

message 3: by Linda (new)

Linda (revlinda) | 7 comments If a political official is against religious freedom, then yes, that very much affects my vote

message 4: by Mawgojzeta (new)

Mawgojzeta I agree with Linda (above).

message 5: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (triplegoddessmatriarch) We all know how politicians are. They'll say anything to get into office and once they're in, a lot of their "policies" change. A lot of them would love to tell us their stance on religious freedom, but it wouldn't get many of them elected or re-elected. I consider the countries they are supportive of as well, in terms of how they earn my support.

i havent been able to vote just yet, but i do try to follow elections, and i try to listen to what they dont say about their religious beliefs.

message 7: by Kendra (new)

Kendra (ravenacres) Yes. I try to keep an eye on how the politician views religion. I don't care what their beliefs are so long as they leave others beliefs alone.

message 8: by Ancestral (new)

Ancestral Gaidheal (gaidheal) Yes. I try to pick candidates who reflect my personal values, as I am pagan, my personal values aren't necessarily the norm.

message 9: by Leannear24 (new)

Norma (searching4center) | 5 comments I watch to make sure they believe in freedom of religion, but I also tend to watch if they follow their own beliefs or not.

Not many people do that. I must say, that's a good idea...

Yes. I vote Green.

Bryn Hammond (brynhammond) | 252 comments Georgina wrote: "Yes. I vote Green."

What she said. And of course, yes, religion affects my vote; other parties are riddled with Christianity.

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

:):) And too often they don't admit it.

Or know it!

message 16: by Terri (new)

Terri (terrilovescrows) | 11 comments yes. for one thing I try and vote against those who are trying to push their religious views on us.

message 17: by Nell (new)

Nell Grey (nellgrey) | 1682 comments I vote Green in the local elections, then have a crisis of conscience when it comes to the General Election, as strategy becomes more important. We don't really have religious views pushed on us here in the UK - at least I don't think so.

I like that idea, Jaq, it feels right for so many things.

I like this idea too. :)

I hope this never becomes an issue here in the UK - we do seem to follow the US in most things eventually.

message 22: by Kori (new)

Kori (Bad_Apple) | 13 comments I don't like politicians that force their religious views and, in doing so, infringe upon human rights. For me, I specifically look for politicians that don't treat women like sh#t.

What both Georgina and Bryn said. I vote Green as well, unless there's a compelling reason to vote otherwise. And I am not interested in any of these politicians that pander to the xtian crowd.
