This was my first attempt at a group read, and I never even reviewed it!
I really enjoyed all the parts, although the first was a personal favorite. I thought the mother's part was also mystifying in a good way. I also liked the strong contrast this book showed between the growth of South Korea from the 50s to the modern decade. So much change in so little time, how life still can be different if you live rurally... I will reread this book soon, in the meantime, does anyone have an questions or thoughts they want to open up?
From Feb last year, I said of Part One, Nobody Knows: "I really liked this introspective into the relationship between a daughter and her mother--it's not like most, but the connection was very powerful. I thought the ending thoughts were ones not usually touched on in Asian Lit (usually?), those of women being in the kitchen, at the sewing machine and the seldom asked question: were they happy? I really connected with the narrator and am sad to see her go."
