WHAT. WHERE. WHEN.
O.O

And generally the whole idea of this radio station is awesome!!! Nicole, thanks for the link!

I DIED when this happened. I'm almost as obsessed with everything Bennie does as I am Neil's stuff. Best day ever.

And then there was this thread. Coincidence? ;)
For all the Benedict Cumberbatch fans and anyone else interested here is a link of him singing as The Angel Islington:

It's addictive.

I'm pretty sure I've listened to this at least 30957230975 times since you posted it, Pigletto.

If it's showing in a theater near you, it's well worth your time. Mind-blowingly good.

Please tell them your internet friend Ashley told them they have to. They'll regret it if they don't, seriously. Go by yourself if you have to, Nicole!

Questions and Comments for Prologue - Chapter 3
1) As Lucy mentioned, what a fun a different name for a character--Door. She says it's not short for anything it's just her name. From what we've seen does anyone else think there is some significance to this name? The first chapter talked of her trying to open up doors to escape the two men, if we can call them that, that were in pursuit of her.
2) The old woman in the prologue warned Richard to avoid doors. Who knew it would be three years later that her prediction would come true? What do you make of Door and her world? Did anyone have a clue the old woman was talking about a person?
3) First impression of Richard Mayhew? I think he seems a little too easy going, but a nice guy. I liked how he didn't just leave door on the pavement.
4) What the heck is going on with Richard? Why doesn't anyone know him? It's like he's been erased or at least the last few years of his life have been.
5) Do you think Door apologized because she knew what was about to happen to Richard? Do you think she knew his world would be turned upside down?
6) Have you read any of Neil Gaiman's other stories? If so which are your favorites? How does the beginning of this one compare to the ones you've read?

Questions and Comments for Prologue - Chapter 3
1. It is very strange. I guess she has some special ability regarding opening 'magical' doors
2. No - and I think I need to go back and reread the prologue as I'd already forgotten that!
3. Lovely guy - affable kind of fellow. I'm glad he ignored his gf and helped Door. I love quote:
"Richard had noticed that events were cowards; they didn't occur singly, but instead they would run in packs and leap out at him all at once"
4. Kind of erased, as if he yells loud enough people do see him. I'm keen to find out!
5. Yes and that is pretty mean if that is the case as she should've exlained things to him or helped in some way
6. This is now my 4th for this challenge and it is quite different to the others. I do really like it so far - it has dragged me in quickly like The Ocean at the End of the Lane did

2) I didn't even remember that the old woman warned Richard about avoiding doors, and that it could be applied to Door the person. How clever!
3) I really like Richard. I like that he's easy going and a nice guy. I like that Richard is a hero, and he takes action when he saves door, but he's not the typical high strung, action oriented hero that I tend to see a lot of in stories.
4) I don't know what's going on with Richard. I'm definitely interested to find out whether his non-existence is due to a spell, or aftereffects of contact with Door, or something else.
5) I assumed Door apologized because she had caused a lot of weirdness for Richard. I'm hoping that she didn't realize what would happen to Richard after she left, and if she did she would have helped him.
6) I have read Gaiman's Sandman comics, American Gods, The Graveyard Book, and some of his short stories. I really like his early work from the 90's, like his Sandman comics and American Gods. So I'm enjoying this story a lot, because it's some of his early stuff I haven't read yet. I'm excited to read more.
@Nicole - I'm one of the "cheaters" that started early! haha
@Jessica
2. I'm glad I wasn't the only one to forget this. I went back and re-read it and there is a lot of forshadowing in that prologue
3. good point!

Questions for Chapters 4 - 5
7) Well we now know what is going on... "Young man," he said, "understand this: there are two Londons. There's London Above--that's where you lived--and then there's London Below--the Underside--inhabited by the people who fell through the cracks of the world. Now you're one of them." Yikes! But so cool. I love it. What is your reaction?
8) What are Mr. Croup and Mr. Vandemar? Some things remind me of cats and others of vampires or boogey men. What do you think?
9) Did you notice Doors family's names??? Arch, Portico, Portia... Portia doesn't seem to fit the others.
10) What did you think of the 'House without Doors'? How did someone get in? Was it someone they knew?
11) I kind of giggled when Hunter revealed what her true profession was. I have to admit I wondered. What do you think of her? I'm glad she knocked Varney out of the running.
12) Anyone else think the marquis is up to no good?
13) What did you think of Anaesthesia being taken as a toll on the bridge? What did you make of Hunter revealing she'd saved Richard three times on that bridge? Anyone else wondering if Richard's dream from before wasn't one?
14) What did you think of the floating market?
15) So if rats are important, are pigeons too? What do you make of the importance of rats?
16) So now they're on a quest to find an angel named Islington. Should prove interesting.

What is a buddy read?
About this Buddy Read
A “Relaxed Buddy Read” is similar to our usual “buddy reads” except there are less questions and break points. For example, a book may be split into three sections and those reading the book should pause at the end of the section to answer some discussion questions, make comments, or ask their own questions to other readers
Synopsis
Under the streets of London there's a place most people could never even dream of. A city of monsters and saints, murderers and angels, knights in armour and pale girls in black velvet. This is the city of the people who have fallen between the cracks.
Richard Mayhew, a young businessman, is going to find out more than enough about this other London. A single act of kindness catapults him out of his workday existence and into a world that is at once eerily familiar and utterly bizarre. And a strange destiny awaits him down here, beneath his native city: Neverwhere
