Natalie, I thought anyone could PM me. I guess not, so I've sent you a friend request. I didn't see one from you, but we should get there, today.

Natalie (and others, maybe Jim too?) - GR changed the settings a while ago, ostensibly to cut down on spam.

This means that the default is now that you can only receive messages from your friends, and not from everyone. An example of this is that I can't send you a message - your profile appears private to me. This is why Ed correctly said that you have to friend first.

If you wish your profile to be open, you can go into edit, and change it back to "anyone can message me" (it's a toggle). I did this when I realised what they had done; there was no announcement. It's easy to do, but not many people know about the change, and thus do not know people are trying to message them!

By the way, whatever your settings you can still get all the moderators' group messages, but not necessarily the private ones. Hope this helps :)

Thanks, Jean, but I think they busted that, too. I did set my profile to allow anyone to send me messages & I just checked it. Still set that way. Sigh.
