Recently sent in to Goodreads Customer Service:
The We'Moon calendars, though quite definitely calendars, are also,
quite definitely books, filled with poetry, short prose, and artwork
created by women. In fact, the writings and artwork contained in these
books are their main focus. I don't even use mine as calendars.

Here's one of them. At 240 pages, that does seem to have considerably more to it that a simple calendar. The Amazon reviews on this more recent one seem to agree.

Opinions?

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) | 2400 comments Rivka, I guess this one is a book, but don't assume with that many pages that calendars aren't straight calendars. My day at a glance (straight) calendars are 365-366 pages long.

Good point. It's been so long since I've had a paper day planner (rather than my Palm) that I forget. ;)

Jessica | 963 comments Hey got something else. I'll just link to the author:
http://www.goodreads.com/author/show/...

These look like magazines, but are Kindle editions. Any ideas what to do?

message 5: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) | 2400 comments Well, I think that they're NOT A BOOKs but more knowledgeable librarians might disagree.

I agree.

Are we agreed that the We'Moon calendars are books are should be un-NAB'd?

message 7: by Eva-Marie (new)

Eva-Marie Nevarez (evamarie3578) | 753 comments I don't consider them books myself but that's just my two cents. A poem here and there is hardly a book in my eyes but I suppose if there is a number of people with them here and on amazon it'd be easier to not NAB them anyway. :)

message 8: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) | 2400 comments Rivka, I've never seen one of those We'Moon calendars so I abstain because I just don't know. I do think calendars that have text and pictures are often still simply calendars. I won't NAB them but I'm not really willing to participate in un-NABing them either.

Jessica | 963 comments Got another one:

This looks like a pack, but I'd like some other opinions. Thanks!

The good news is that one can actually be deleted, because it's not listed on Amazon anymore.

POOF!

message 11: by Jessica (last edited Jun 10, 2009 05:11AM) (new)

Jessica | 963 comments Nice! How do you tell if it isn't listed on Amazon? I've been NABing a lot of CDs, it would be nice to delete those.

*edit* Oh, presumably you just search the ISBN....

rivka | 45177 comments Mod
I just click on my find at Amazon link and let it search for me. (Then I do a double-check after deleting by searching for ISBN. Once it a while it comes back up that way, if it's listed only on one of the non-US Amazons.)

Ok, there having been no strong objections to un-NABing the We'MOON book-like objects, and there being a strong request to do so, so it shall be.

Can I have a volunteer to find them all and un-NAB them (preferably with Librarian's Notes so they don't get re-NABed?

message 14: by Eva-Marie (new)

Eva-Marie Nevarez (evamarie3578) | 753 comments I'm not doing anything rivka- I can un-NAB them. How can I try to find the majority though? Search by the calendar name?

message 15: by Melody (new)

Melody (runningtune) | 13300 comments http://www.goodreads.com/search/searc...

That would be a start Eva. There may be other ways to search for them.

The Amazon link I provided above has one, and on its page are (people who have bought this also bought) links to what looks to be most of the others.

Thanks, Eva!

message 17: by Eva-Marie (new)

Eva-Marie Nevarez (evamarie3578) | 753 comments Okay- did the first one and will work on some others now. Then I'll try to go through and find any others that I can manage to locate. Thanks for the link and info guys.
I'll finish up tomorrow if I don't get very far tonight- (haven't been on-line too much today!)

Thanks again, Eva. :)

message 19: by Eva-Marie (new)

Eva-Marie Nevarez (evamarie3578) | 753 comments No problem- quick question though- has anyone let Cyn know the outcome of the discussion? I'm wanting to make sure she knows so she's aware this wasn't done without thinking on my part and then NAB then again. I'll be happy to let her know or if someone wants to direct her here maybe?

message 20: by Eva-Marie (new)

Eva-Marie Nevarez (evamarie3578) | 753 comments Okay, I just did a few and looked around and I think I should be able to find them all pretty easy. I can get the ones from the amazon link and double check and all that when I'm done with the ones done first on here.
I'll finish them in the morning!

♡ Eva ♡ wrote: "I'm wanting to make sure she knows so she's aware this wasn't done without thinking on my part and then NAB then again."

That's why I suggested a Librarian's Note on each one.

message 22: by Eva-Marie (new)

Eva-Marie Nevarez (evamarie3578) | 753 comments Do you think that's enough though? I don't mean Cyn in particular of course, but I don't think many people look to see if there are any. I know I do, all the time at that, but I'd be surprised if most did.
Well, let's hope for the best!

message 23: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Armistead Newman (technomom) | 159 comments I'm here, but thanks for thinking of me :-) I do check for librarian's notes before NABing. If they contradict established policies, I check here and usually contact the other librarian, too.

message 24: by Eva-Marie (new)

Eva-Marie Nevarez (evamarie3578) | 753 comments Hi Cyn! I figured you were one to check them (I always do too) but I would bet money some don't. Or just plain forget. Or assume they're always right. LOL You know those types!
I've seen you around in here enough to know you'd make your way here sooner or later though! :)

message 25: by Eva-Marie (last edited Jun 13, 2009 09:33AM) (new)

Eva-Marie Nevarez (evamarie3578) | 753 comments Quick question- I'm trying to finish these up right now. Should we leave 'calendar' as the format? I'm guessing yes?
On second thought- maybe we shouldn't? It's not a given option and it looks kind of weird to me. Maybe we should just use HB or PB?

message 26: by Lisa (last edited Jun 13, 2009 11:42AM) (new)

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) | 2400 comments Eva, I don't know if I'm doing the right thing but for format when I have the time I use: NOT A BOOK: calendar - If I don't have time I usually use either one or the other; sometimes calendar is already there and I just leave it.

message 27: by Eva-Marie (new)

Eva-Marie Nevarez (evamarie3578) | 753 comments I left them/changed them to calendar for now. I wanted them to be all the same either way so I figured if they need to be changed I can always change them to something else. Thanks Lisa!

message 28: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) | 2400 comments Thanks Eva. I see your point. The way I figure it is that if NABs have NOT A BOOK for author, that's the main thing to keep the database in better shape.

message 29: by Eva-Marie (last edited Jun 13, 2009 12:02PM) (new)

Eva-Marie Nevarez (evamarie3578) | 753 comments That's what I do also with NABs. I put it in the title and author field and sometimes in the edition field also. We're un-NABing these though so I figured I may as well get them as perfect as can be. LOL
I think I found them all but I'm going to do another search tonight in case I missed any.
