That's exactly what I think too. You just said it much better than I could have. :)

I agree. I was crying at the end, I actually couldn't believe Veronica did that, but I am glad she did. It did make for a better book. This book did feel a little different from the other two. Some of the love scenes between Tris and Tobias felt a little off to me, for some reason.

I think the love scenes showed how the relationship has developed over the course of the series. Because the most development in Four and Tris' relationship took place in this book.

But the ending still pisses me off a lot in ways...i don't see myself re-reading Allegiant for a very, very, very, very, Long time.
(Another Spoiler)
what really got me upset was the fact of the lack of bad guys dieing....like not a single one.
Right now i think i'm still going over shock. I have a lot of mix emotions at the moment.

I'm depressed already and seriously considering NOT reading the book.

Same here. I hoped for something else outside the wall. :(

I cried.
For days.
And days.
And days.
That is the quickest summarization of my feelings about the ending. But I agree with Laura - it was a brave and somewhat mature way to end the book.
But still.
Cried.

And I agree with Stormy, if Roth had done the fairytale ending it wouldn't have felt right.

This is hands down the best trilogy I have ever read. First off, the story line is amazing. Second, the writing is superb. Everything ties together and transitions beautifully. Lastly, the ending is necessary! I love authors who are not afraid to kill off great characters and piss off their readers. I loved Tris, and I cried like a baby when she died, but I loved how the author killed her. It was very Tris for her to sacrifice herself and very realistic that she didn't miraculously come back. Whether you liked the ending or not, I think we can all agree it was memorable... If you were invested in this series, Tris's death affected you. And that's what makes a great writer. It's why this series and writer is so brilliant.

I started off disliking Allegiant because of the two POV's. It was very jarring after having had only one POV for the other two books. And Tris and Tobias's POV's sounded so much alike that I kept forgetting whose I was in and had to keep flipping back to see where I was. I finally just started skimming his POV. LOL...personally I think Tobias was a stronger character when I couldn't hear his whiny internal thoughts.
And I'm sorry...but I thought the ending was unnecessary. They built two books around us rooting for Tris to overcome this and that and then to kill her off in like five seconds sucked!
I'm still ticked. I'll read the first two again, but I won't read Allegiant again.

But st..."
Lia, I'm so glad I wasn't the only one who cried so much! Seriously, my family started to think something was wrong with me. I'm glad I didn't buy the book, because even seeing it on my 'to return to the library' shelf makes me sad still!
