Did you have a nice weekend? :]

message 2: by Jack (new)

Jack Strandburg | 51 comments Yes - on Saturday I did over 7 hours of writing-related "stuff" and read for 2 - 3 hours - this is an attempt to reprioritize my life and not watch so much TV - most of which is reruns and movies I'd seen before! :)

Michael Pearce (michaeltinkerpearce) | 91 comments Linda and I both have colds so we stayed home and chilled; it was pretty nice. Didn't get much writing done but we did a bit of gaming, mucked about with some hobby things, made some really nice chicken soup. Watched a little tv. Had a fire in the wood stove and gave the dogs a lot of attention. Good weekend.

Cassandra Lawson | 91 comments It was a total mom weekend here. I took the girls to a homeschool gathering and then went to meet with my our kids with hip dysplasia group. I did get up at 4 both days so I got some writing done but not as much as I would have liked.

Is there EVER a time when we write as much as we want? Not me for sure. LOL

Hope all goes better for you soon Willow. :(
You say you have NaNoWriMo but don't forget you have us too!!

My week end was blah. Didn't get a single edit done in my book. Didn't read much either, although I read an excerpt from an upcoming book that made me crave for the rest.

If you would have asked last week end well then it would have been different since we went horse riding in the mountains and I got to brush and pet my horsy!
I wished we could do that every week end.;)

Cassandra Lawson | 91 comments I'm really sorry that things are so rough right now, Willow. I hope they get better soon. My son has bipolar disorder so we had a lot of scary teen years too.

Karen (okiewashere) | 57 comments Good luck, Willow. Keep the faith in yourself and your abilities!
Life is great - even if it does not always seem like it.

Hope things get better for you soon Willow. Feel free to vent on here or to me if you need to :]

I was considering blogging about some of my experiences with the issues that have been mentioned in this thread and how I used writing as a therapy. Would anyone be interested in reading?

I've not talked about it yet as I didn't want to kind of want to seem an attention seeker in that way, lots of authors already talk about it, I didn't want to seem as a bandwagon jumper. Do you know what I mean?

I love horses. J.R.R Tolkein used them in Lord of the Rings because he thought they were such brave creatures.

Michael Litzky | 79 comments My wife and I saw Wagner's The Flying Dutchman at the SF Opera on Saturday, then had our weekly ice cream at Fenton's Creamery. Sunday was mostly a stay-at-home get-things-done don't-give-in-to-that-cold day.

Willow: hugs. Looking forward to sharing kvetching and kvelling as NaNo buddies.

Carl Willow, my thoughts are with you.

Harmony Kent (harmonyk) Joining this thread late ... Willow, my thoughts are with you.
I spent Halloween with my family and got my face painted as a skeleton, that was great fun. (Pic up on my website) :)
My five year old niece is my tonic when life gets tough - I spend most of my time alone at home, so getting to play with her and be surrounded by my sister and her family is always a welcome treat.
Meditation is definitely what keeps me sane - that and writing ... when I get lonely all I have to do is put on my music and sit at the computer and start writing - it's like entering a time warp :3
I too feel blessed to be a writer

Carl I'm in a funk.

message 15: by Harmony (new)

Harmony Kent (harmonyk) @Carl - here's lookin' at you kid :)

message 16: by Carl (new)

Carl Harmony, I finished watching "Casablanca" several hours ago! Funk happens. So I simply roll with it. :)

message 17: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Gilley | 40 comments Popping in late to this thread.

@Willow - thoughts and prayers with you.

I'm glad to be in the company of others who love horses :) I start every morning mucking stalls and end every evening tossing feed. As much as I love writing, it hasn't felt much like therapy lately, but furious scribbling with an uncertain future. The horses are always so peaceful and grounding. They need no words; life is always simplest at the barn.

@Lauren Now I'm jealous!
My husband always laugh at me when I tell him that I'd do anything just to be near horses, even if it meant cleaning up their poop. ;)

message 19: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Gilley | 40 comments Haha! They're worth the poop-cleaning. I used to run a professional stable, and 25 stalls was a bit much. Now I've just got my own two to take care of; feels more like therapy that way. :)

message 20: by Michael (new)

Michael Litzky | 79 comments They are such beautiful animals. But I am still enchanted by our cats!

My grandma used to have a horse called Joe Apple. He used to kick my dad when he wasn't looking then pretend that nothing had happened.

message 22: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Gilley | 40 comments @Bisky: That sounds like something that could find its way into a book!

@Michael: You can't have horses without having cats. :)

message 24: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Gilley | 40 comments I don't know what it says about me that the only real quality picture I have of myself has a horse in it. Ha! She wasn't psyched to be part of the photo op that day.

@Lauren funny you should say that, I'm planning a series of illustrated children's books in the future. Since the only bloody thing I can actually draw really well is horses, lol.

message 27: by Harmony (new)

Harmony Kent (harmonyk) I too love horses - @Bisky, the books sound like a great idea!
I'm full of cold today, and my head feels like soggy cotton wool. All I want to do is hibernate, but real life isn't letting me off that easily - I'm full of busy until Sunday now.
Hope you all have a great weekend. :3

Well, what I just witnessed will top everything.

I'm just sitting on the tram minding my own business...
Mother to toddler: "Yes! He's a chinese. And what noises to Chinese people make?"

And people wonder why I don't like to leave my apartment...

J. David Clarke (clarketacular) | 418 comments So far my Valentine's Day is going fairly well, considering I have no significant other and I usually just hide in my room with my head under the covers.

I have a Kindle giveaway going on my book The Wizard in My Window, so far it's going pretty well. I'm excited to see international readers picking up the book, especially places I've never had sales, like in Japan. It's free for the rest of the day so if you have a Kindle go grab a copy!
