Dustin (tillos) | 365 comments Are you going to get it, borrow it, pass?

I heard you might be able to get it on itunes right now or wait until Nov 5th.

Here's a scene/spoiler guide.

And here's an extended clip:

I'll get it just for the stupid amount of bonus features. More footage is a bonus.

Michal (michaltheassistantpigkeeper) | 294 comments Because what this (in my most subjective opinion) massively bloated film needs is even more footage. So yes, I'll pass.

I'm buying it. Not exactly sure why. Lol.

I bought it on iTunes.

Not for the extra 12 minutes of movie, but for the 9+ hours of extras. :-)

Kathryn Weis | 126 comments I'm going to wait patiently and get the boxed set of all 3 movies together whenever they finally release that (3? years from now or so).

I know for the LOTR ones I was able to send away for the box to turn my extended editions into a sort of box set.

I love those because they all look like books.

Pretty much this.

Tim | 380 comments I didn't buy the standard edition, but I'll probably buy the extended. Mostly for the extras, but also because I'm a kiwiphile. It's not for the film, honest!

This.

I got the LotR EE's standing on my shelf looking pretty, but I'm going to pass on this one thanks.

The opinions I've heard so far of the extra scenes is that they should have cut the crap out (mostly the goblin battle and stone giants) of the original to make room for these.

Even though I would have liked to hear the goblin song, I am glad they left it out for the EE. However the likelihood that they might intentionally be leaving bits out just to sell an EE bothers me.

Trike | 11199 comments Although I hated the LotR movies (take a number and get in line to tell me how wrong I am; let's be orderly about this), I actually enjoyed The Hobbit. However, like all of Jackson's recent movies, it was way too long for what it was. So more of the same would not be a selling point for me.

I do hate the double- and triple-dipping studios engage in. They should make two versions: bare bones for the people who just want to see the movie and full zoot with extra stuff.

I didn't buy the standard, and plunked down the $ for this extended version to get the extras, which have always been excellent with the extended LOTR releases. But agree with many here that the storyline was bloated already, so it seems unlikely I'll embrace the added scenes like I did with the extended LOTR movies. If I dislike them enough, I will be one of those fools double-dipping to get the trimmer standard edition as well. :/

Eric1211 | 1 comments I love the LOTR - EE set and I love my copy The Hobbit - EE version. I'm a 60 yo kid who read the books in the '60s. Jackson is the best! I'm an example of Arrested Development when it comes to stories I've read during my childhood.
