So I turn Vivek into a woman in G21 (don't ask!) and now I turn you into a man? What power moderators have lol!

Well, G21 started up this week and now G22 only has 3 places left... Won't be able to keep up with it all soon.

message 11: by Jay (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) Thanks, Tammy and Kathy (loved the Snow Deer stories - did I review it or did I forget/get distracted?)

Apologies for the incorrect link - might wake a couple of G21 members up to see the competition arrive lol!

D.E. | 30 comments Signing in as well. Here's my current book: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...

I'm hoping to have my next book out before the rounds finish so I can get that reviewed as well.

message 16: by Jay (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) Thanks, Marie-Jo and D.E.

A new book out, eh? That's always so exciting, no matter how many you write. Good luck with it! Don't forget that you can join more than one group if you have the time to do the reviewing, or immediately follow one group with the next that's forming up at the time you finish the reviews for the other group.

message 18: by Jay (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) Hi Stevan - thanks :)

Over half way there now so we should be on course to start next Saturday. Don't start swapping any books yet, though, as the listing isn't finalised for who reviews whom.

Nicole (reluctantwriter) | 7 comments Hi all. What does "signing in" mean? Thank you!

message 20: by Marie-Jo (last edited Nov 03, 2013 11:02AM) (new)

Marie-Jo Fortis | 114 comments Basically this: if you are an author in need of reviews, it means you have to review other books in exchange. Honesty is not only a plus, it's a must. So is acceptance of criticism if the reviewer is not in love with your book. But Jay will explain this better.

Jay Howard (jay_howard) Nicole wrote: "Hi all. What does "signing in" mean? Thank you!"

Hi Nicole - I'm just asking the group members to show they are still with us in Group 22 (it's surprising how many people say 'yes' then we don't hear from them again when it's time to start), plus it pulls together all the members in one place on the group thread, since some may have registered on the Register Here thread, others asked to join via PM to me or another mod. Just post the GR link to your book and a) I'll know you are ready, b) all group members can see which book you want reviewed.

Here's your book link:

The Debt of Tamar

message 22: by Jay (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) Due to my error with the group link Frederick posted on G21 thread. Here's the link to his book:

message 26: by Jay (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) That's OK, CF, you're here with us in time :)

message 27: by Jay (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) As all bar one of the group are here and ready I'm going to post the 'who reviews who and when' stuff. That way you can get your books swapped ready for the group start date (which I've put back to Sunday instead of Saturday to give Douglas an extra day to get here). If we don't see Douglas here in time I'll get another member to join this group, so don't panic, Frederick and DE ;-)

Big news for us all - Hock Tjoa has kindly agreed to give up some of his precious time to help us out as a moderator. You are very lucky to have this experienced group member and accomplished author as your moderator.
But please remember you are his first group so be gentle!

Welcome, Hock, we really appreciate your help :)

message 28: by Jay (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) GROUP 22 - moderator
Hock Tjoa
https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...

START DATE: 10 November 2013
END DATE: 02 February 2014

Please remember the commitment you are making to your fellow group members. If you don’t think you can manage to do 4 book reviews between these dates please let me know now. I will find someone else for this group and you will be able to choose a later group that will be more suitable for you.

If you pull out after the start date for any reason it is the other members who will be faced with the problem of finding a replacement, or missing out on reviews, through no fault of their own. Please don’t ask the moderators to chase after replacements as we just don’t have the time.

It is the responsibility of the author to get their book to their reviewer in a format the reviewer can manage. When the file is received, please post a GR link to the book in this thread so that the author has confirmation that reviewing of the correct book has started.

There are no set dates for the start of each round. You can each work at your own pace, within the limits of the round deadlines. All reviews must be posted by 02 February 2014.

When you have posted your review on GR please post a link to your review in this thread.

All reviews of 3, 4 or 5 stars must be posted to GR, Amazon .com and Amazon.co.uk.

If the rating is 1 or 2 stars, the review must be posted to GR but the author should be asked if they want the review to go to Amazon or not.

Postings to any other sites are by agreement by both author and reviewer.

In the next post are the listings for the 4 review rounds, the who reviews who stuff. You don’t have to put forward the same book for every round, but you can only ask for one review per round.

Happy reviewing, everyone :)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) If I’ve missed something that results in you being asked to review someone who has already reviewed you, or you have already reviewed the author's work, please let me know asap.

Hello, Douglas, glad you made it here in time. Have you read the PMs I sent you and the info here on the thread?

Firstly, we need the GR link to your book so your reviewers can easily get there to post their reviews.

Please read message 28 to be sure you're clear on the process. Next you need to check message 29 which lists the round dates and who is reviewing whom. For round 1 Frederick is reviewing your book - PM him to arrange how you're getting your book to him (email or Smashwords coupon) and in what format. You will be reviewing DE's book.

By order of the moderators, group members are each allowed one moment of total stupidity a week. This moderator is allowed one per day...

Please don't make me laugh, Douglas - I have a bug at the moment and laughter gets me coughing which then gets my nose running...!
OK, tissue's in the bin, I don't have a stool or dunce's cap handy, so here's your answer. If you click the link next to Frederick's name it will take you to his home page and there's a 'Send a message' link (below his picture).

K.A. Krisko (kakrisko) | 1702 comments I've sent messages to each of those who are to review my books and each of those I'll be reviewing (well, Marie-Jo got to me first!). I'm looking forward to getting four new books to read! Let's see if we can stretch my genre experience!

message 39: by Jay (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) Note to everyone - if you prefer you can, as Kathy has just done, sort out getting your book(s) to your reviewers at the outset. Or you can stick with doing it round by round - the choice is yours. The best way is probably to do all 4 now since some reviewers are very fast and that would save them hanging around waiting for the next round to start.

I'm saying book(s) rather than book as you have the option of getting more than one book reviewed in a group, but you can only get one reviewed per round.

Hock Tjoa (hockgtjoa) | 946 comments Hello Group 22!
I am the group moderator, soon to be made official. This is my first turn as moderator and I think of this job as facilitating the delivery of books from author to reviewers and that of the reviews to this Group discussion.
Reviews giving three stars or more should also be posted to Amazon.com and to Amazon.co.uk.
Let me know if you have a question by posting on this thread or PM to me; I'll check in at least once a day.
Best wishes,
Hock

message 43: by Jay (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) Hello and goodbye, Hock - welcome to your first group (first, I hope, of many). I'll bow out now and sort group 23 out, but feel free to contact any of us mods if you get any posers. (Sshhh - watch out for that Douglas - don't tell him I said so!) You have Kathy here as a group member and she's very good at keeping us all in line so you should be fine.

Have fun!

That's all correct--authors seeking reviews should initiate the conversation. But in practice, both parties should reach out to each other, preferably by PM as opposed to a post on this forum. Post in this forum when you are not getting through.

Reviewers, it would be nice to acknowledge receipt of the review copies. Again, preferably by PM.

Marie-Jo Fortis | 114 comments Hi Hock,

I still haven't received my first assignment. Just contacted the author for the second time. I've got the book of my second assignment, though. If the first author does not respond soon, is it possible to swap and start with "number 2"?

Best,

Yes, it is O.K. to do the reviews out of order; just make sure you do them all--assuming you get all the books.
