Have you guys ever messaged a famous author and got a responce? :3

I had a chat on twitter with Hugh Howey once. It was about The Counselor movie and Ridley Scott. Ridley Scott had bought the rights to make a Wool movie.

Nope, but to be honest, I wouldn't know what to tell them anyway. /blush

Yes. A couple times. Whenever I read a book I think is good I tweet the writer whether s/he is famous or not. Writers need appreciation.

Think tahts what I love about indie authors I love how accessible they are! :3

I chat with a lot of creators in the comic industry on Twitter, but as for mainstream authors, I think Brad Meltzer and Joe Lansdale have responded to me on Twitter, can't think of any others.

Yes, I chatted with Jerry Jenkins of the Left Behind series. He was very approachable and gave valuable advice. I found out that he happened to be friends with my publisher.

I get too scared and star struck to talk to authors :D I'm jealous! ^-^

Though I managed to get Betty Krocker to send me cookies from the states :D

... Not really the same thing :x

I think if I really had a question for someone I would seek them out in the future :3

Aww Bisky ... nothing to get scared about ... I love it when readers contact me - even when I'm famous that won't change (notice the 'when' not 'if') :) ... just remember one thing: without readers no writer would be a famous one! ;p

I think I'll always try to message everyone back :3 I like doing it so much now, I can't imagine why it would change if my book was a success. Which I hope it will be of course ^-^

I've messaged my favourite musician twice in the hopes being interesting enough to gain the elusive followback :p He's replied to everyone who messaged him except for me :[

Though I kinda hope thats because we're almost the same age and he thinks I'm cute *shuffles feet, kicks at dust*

Lucky for me, my writer-crush is Joe Abercrombie (except, he's married and I'm married and it's a totally professional crush, but he is kinda good looking for a fantasy author and seems really normal, but he also lives on the other side of the world, so I'm allowed to pretend to fancy him more than I do because I can never turn into some crazy dangerous real-life stalker...)

Um...

Anyway... Mr Abercrombie totally responds to sensible questions. He's lovely like that... I mean, uh, he is LORD GRIMDARK and does not belittle himself by responding to his readers.... much.

The drummer from my favourite band did a big "follow back" drive last year... that was AWESOME!

I LOVE fan mail! So few readers take the time to review or make personal contact. Those that do can really make a writer's day.

And I am so totally with Deb ... I LOVE fan mail ... I confess finding twitter a bit daunting at first, but I think I'm (finally) getting the hang of it :P

Oh, oh of course. Mutual amicable admirations of other artists are always allowed :3 Creativity is charming ;]

Some people have the idea that they have to insert swears in messages to me to sound witty.

Think its because I'm british *shrugs*

yesterday I tweeted Kevin Hearne to say how amazing "Trapped" was and to know when the next book is going to be done, apparently it's already out there so.... I'm gonna read'em all

I loved reading all your experiences! I admit, I get like Bisky when it comes to talking to famous people - authors or otherwise. (once I got too shy to take a pic of the Peter Pan at Disneyworld. Had to ask a friend to do it for me. <.<)

My contacts with authors happened when I started doing my November Sketch challenge and I picked some authors to draw for. The most squeal-worthy had to be when Neil Gaiman said the caricature I did of him was 'lovely'. *dies*

My favorites were when Frances Hardinge, Shannon Hale and Mandy Hubbard responded with how much they loved theirs.

A youtuber ranter responded to one of my tweets the other day randomly (it was about my essay) I was so happy I screen capped it #dork

I love that Neil Gaiman sketch I knew it was him beofre I read the caption :p

I'm jealous! If I ever tweet anyone famous they NEVER answer me lol. I must look like a stalker or something ;). It would be nice to be important.

I don't message people very often because I'm scared of the replies. A simple follow back would suffice. But I never get that very often :p

I have afew celebrities following me. I don't know why though ._.

I've talked to Kat Martin several times. Also, Elizabeth Hoyt and Deanna Raybourne. :) They're just people too!!

I think it's so cool that we have access to so many celebrity authors now...that being said, it's also important not to abuse the system.

I received an email from Cassie Clare (TMI, Bane Chronicles) encouraging me to query my novel. That was what got me going with all this social media stuff in the first place.

I've also gone back and forth a bit with Maggie Stiefvater on twitter. It was thrilling to feel connected to someone I admire!

Hope we're all still gonna chat on Twitter when we are famous :p

I emailed an author to ask if I could interview her on my blog - and she said yes!

*Mumbles* Why do I always read MASSAGING an author instead of MESSAGING? *Crawls back under her rock*

I've just got to post this somewhere: I'm so swamped these days that day after day I see allllll these fabulous discussions and I want to jump in and respond to dozens of topics and you all have things worth reading and I just don't have any time. Waaaahhhhhh. I WILL make some time soon to get caught up but I just at least want to take a minute to say I love alla yuz.

The other day I tweeted an author to tell her that her books were on my amazon wish list. A little bit later she posted that she bought one of *MY* books (Winner's Curse). I was floored! I hope she leaves a review. LOL

I always get too nervous to message an author.

I periodically check feeds of people like Neil Gaiman or Hugh Howey or Leigh Bardugo or Christopher Paolini to see if they happen to say something to which I could reply intelligently. No luck so far...
