Have you ever come into sentences or remarks that didn't make any sense?

I've read one on Amazon tonight and I thought I'd share it.

Reviewer's opening sentences: I got 5 books from this series when they were free for the kindle. I will not be buying any more.

Well duh! Dear Reviewer, you never even bought one to begin with! :P

So how about you guys? Let's hear about your 'encounters'.

People are always saying senseless things that's the beauty of writing dialogue to try and write the words as people really say them not as so grammarian, they often know what they are saying even if technically it doesn't make sense.

I say stupid things that don't make sense. Luckily with my accent I just pretend its a saying we have in England and its all good.

Guess thats why I don't know anyone back home other than family :P

I actually asked something like this on my tumblr, which is going to be a place for me to vent thoughts like this without cluttering my facebook page of fun things.

Well its more about nasty comments. Why do people do them?

@Anthony I love dialogues in stories, when they feel authentic.

@Bisky LOL I read the message that was left to you.
Really? When all they have to do to begin with is ignore your tweets if they don't like them?

I've had a flurry of really werid ones since I hit 10,000 followers. Think thats something to do with it. I'm expecting it to a degree, but why even bother wasting your time with it? I had a conversation with that guy, he was so bitter!

Dawn J Stevens (dawnjstevens) | 51 comments Just hit someone in a bad mood, maybe? I don't get it either. I mean, when I see crap that irritates me a bit, I usually burden my significant other with it. Or talk about it with people that would understand and share the frustration.

There's a fine line between honesty and hatefulness. I guess I can get snarky or nasty when I see something oh-so-wrong. Such as scammers, or books/guides that are so bad and misleading that I wouldn't recommend them to ANYONE. Even then I'll only review when appropriate, and be FAIR about the ratings. Like if there was a tiny chapter that wasn't so bad, that would probably bump my rating up to a 2 stars. Or if I saw an honest attempt at legitimate content, I'll give it a 3 star and say why.

Aside from that, randomly leaving nasty comments or tweets... just no. My time is too valuable to waste on negativity. I'd rather ignore/delete/move on. I would think people that spend all that time putting down others are eating themselves alive with the anger and stress. So maybe we should feel sorry for them?

Carl I'm a history teacher and I've taught lit and comp. My list of stupid sentences could crash the internets.

@Damn I think I reply to all mine because I've won 'trolls' over in the past. but its getting to the point where I just don't have the time to. Which I guess is a downside to getting lots of messages.

@Carl, when I was tutoring English I was mostly in charge of the kids with learning difficulties. But oneday I had one of the other pupils who was just in for homework help. He gave me a worksheet where he seemed to have completely confused were/was done/did

I sat the entire lesson with him explaining the differences but after the class his dad came up to me and said "You can't tell me he done wrong here!" and proceeded to tell me off and that I didn't know better because I was a teenager at the time.

I was kinda .__. okkk...

Carl Bisky, sad story.

It happened a lot actually at that place. For instance one little boy I worked with had quite bad dyslexia when it came to reading. I could hardly get him to even look at a book. I suggested to his mum that she maybe bought him some comics/manga.

She was outraged as they 'aren't real books'

But if it gets him reading, who cares!

The unbridled idioticy and prejudice I experienced in my youth makes me want to get on my knees and thank the stars that guns are not allowed to be owned in England.

message 14: by Harmony (new)

Harmony Kent (harmonyk) I can be quite naive at times, and will often say something in all innocence. Unfortunately, people tend to be looking for an agenda, or at the very least jaded sarcasm, so I am often misunderstood - until people get to know me that is. These days my sister just smiles and shakes her head fondly, probably thinking to herself that her five year old is more worldly wise than me :3
It seems that not many people take things at face value - which just seems like such a shame to me. Do I really have to grow up? I don't want to have to double think, double speak, or even double face everything. Honest and up front, with no double meanings is my approach to everything I do and say ...
I'm with Bisky: if it works who cares?

Aye, I guess what gets me about people being offended with my tweets and stuff, is that I'm known for giving out inspirational tweets. Surely I should get some sort of benifit of the doubt when it comes to things I say. Would be different if I tweeted about politics, lol.

message 16: by Harmony (new)

Harmony Kent (harmonyk) People forget that words are just that - they only have the power we give them :P

@Bisky Hmm Viking swords? Throw them my way will you? :P

We need to remember one important thing. People choose to follow. No one forces them, so if they are not happy, they should know what to do. It's not that hard to click unfollow.
Personally, I've never unfriended/unfollowed anyone because I don't agree with them. I am sure that there are times they don't agree with me. That's what makes us human and different. And different isn't a bad thing. It's also what makes it fun. :)

Brian Basham (brianbasham) | 390 comments Some people are mean. Some people are stupid. Some people are drunk. I was just on vacation at a casino in Delaware (they are illegal here in VA). I got stopped 6 times because I was wearing a Redskins hat just so they could talk trash to me. Some people just suck.
