Leslie | 777 comments Where's Pitcairn Island? Are any of you guys into history of the Mutiny on the Bounty and the descendents of mutineers?

message 53: by Cosmic Sher (new)

Cosmic Sher (sherart) | 2234 comments Where the heck am I? I've been wondering that all week.

message 54: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 777 comments If it was Sunday at seven, thirty years ago, I would be at The Wonderful World of Disney, with my brother and sisters, sitting in the den after our baths.

message 55: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Larry is in Chicago today, just in case you were wondering.

message 56: by [deleted user] (new)

Can you see me from there Larry, I'm waving to you.

message 57: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) It's very hazy today. So, no, sorry you wasted the waving action, RA.

Btw -- suburban Chicagoland is the pits. Sorry. Just not for me, thank you.

In the Hertz shuttle at St Louis airport yesterday, I heard a guy talking about stopping by Cape Girardeau. I wanted to tell, "Hey, I know someone there!"

But I didn't. I'm very reserved around strangers. Like Jackie.

message 58: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments I told you to stay out of Oakbrook!

message 59: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) It's not like I had a choice. I don't know ... all the burbs look pretty much alike out that way. At least to me they do.

Cars. Too many damned cars running around. Potholes. Too many damned potholes.

message 60: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Where is Sally?

message 61: by Usako (new)

My internet was down for days, Larry. Finally up again this morning. But deadlines are beginning to loom for my summer projects so I'm spending much more time being studious.

message 63: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Well, you were missed.

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
It can be, unless it's the kind of day where they all have no energy and nobody did the reading. Then they just stare at me with their zombie eyes, mouths hanging open and I think about going back to waiting tables because then at least people respond when I talk to them.

message 73: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 777 comments Sounds like summer afternoons when I was in school--no air conditioning--UGH!!!
Is composition a writing class? Or reading? Or both?

message 74: by Sally, la reina (new)

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
It is composition. Rhetoric, whatever.

message 75: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 777 comments Do you enjoy teaching it--I mean when the students aren't imitating the comatose?

message 76: by Sally, la reina (new)

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
yes, then I do.

message 77: by Leslie (new)

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Hey everyone, I'm going to Hawaii tomorrow for a week's vacation. Anyone want a postcard?

message 91: by RandomAnthony (last edited Jul 13, 2009 03:18PM) (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments No need for a postcard this time, but maybe at work...I'll send you the address. But I want pictures of you eating poi because everyone says it's gross and I want to hear what you think.

Have a great time, Jacks!

message 92: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I'd love one, Jackie. Have a terrific time!

message 93: by Heidi (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments Jackie, please ma'am!!!

Have a super time in Hawaii. You should go spearfishing if you get the chance. Or swimming in a remote waterfall/pool area. :)

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Heidi, I'm more of a "catch and release" person, or perhaps "snap and admire" with an underwater camera. But I will look for a waterfall/pool to swim in, Heidi. :)

message 95: by Heidi (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments Oh, do it!

I mention spearfishing because I love to eat fresh fish and a friend of mine who lives in Hawaii swears that if I ever get the chance to visit the islands, we'd go fishing and eat lots of yummy local fish and do a bit of cliffdiving. :)

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Spearfishing and cliffdiving at the SAME TIME???

;)

message 97: by RandomAnthony (new)

We didn't know about the Hawaiian senator's overdue library books until it was too late to warn him...
