To continue with our A Song of Ice and Fire reading, this thread will be for the discussion of A Storm of Swords by George R.R. Martin.

Yay! I can't wait!

I thought this was by far the best in the series (I haven't read the next two books yet). Hope you'll enjoy it as much as I did!

I have started it and it is the best so far. I just keep thinking that can't happen and then it does.

I've read all except book 5 and I think this book is the best too , especially the latter half of it. There were some really good twists in it too.

Has anyone started. I have to confess when I suggested this as a buddy read, I had started already. I started in the summer but then completely stopped reading it because it was so long and I had books I wanted to read for challenges and other buddy reads. I have sworn off challenges this month and am determined to get back to this book. I read quite a bit today and I am farther along than I thought I was.

Hopefully you can Craig. It is one excitement after another.

I just got to the greatest moment in the whole series! The book can just end now. I don't even want to read on because I am sure there are going to be more bad moments before the book is over.

I am in the home stretch of Sword of Stones. I am going to be sad to see it go. There have been many surprises both good and bad. If you haven't started yet, you should start. It is a fantastic read. Lots of exciting moments.

ill start once i finish Clash of Kings. I think im getting close to the red wedding so it will go fast for me!

Oh I finished. I stayed up really late because I couldn't stop reading. Loved, loved, loved this book. Can't wait to talk about it with people when they start reading.

Jodi, I did the exact same. It's not common anymore that a book will keep me up all night but this one did. It was so wonderful :)

There was so much I loved and so much I was not happy with Craig. I really disliked (view spoiler)[ that John broke his vows with that wilding girl and not only slept with her, but developed feelings for her. (I am not good with names, so I call her that wildling girl) I know he had to sleep with her but I didn't like that he had to. She made me nervous every time she said " You know nothing John Snow" I kept wondering what she was hiding.

I loved Samuel and how he took care of that one wildling and how he was able to kill the vampires. I am glad he made it.

I was sad that Bran didn't go to the wall and find John. He needs family right now. It will be interesting to see where his journey takes him.

I loved the interaction between Jamie and Brienne (not sure if I spelled her name right, I finished the book quite a while ago) I totally think they will sleep together one day.

I actually had a turn around for my feelings for Sansa. I couldn't stand her for such a long time but it got to the point where how much more could happen to her. I feel like she is ready for something good. I am worried about her with Littlefinger.

I LOVED Tyrion. I like everything about him. He is a Lannister but he stands up to his family. I loved how he finally took care of his jerk of a dad.

I knew Rob wasn't going to make it. I was so sad when he died. For a while I really had hope he would meet Dany and that they would get married. What could be better than a wolf and a dragon? I was so shocked right at the end with what happened with Catelyn. Loved that surprise.

The best gift and surprise was Joffery finally getting what he deserved. That was my favourite part. (hide spoiler)]

My friend has started Feast of Crows and said there are a whole bunch of new characters to learn. I will read in the new year.

I am halfway through A Storm of Swords, and I think I made a mistake by watching the 3rd season of the HBO show before reading this. I feel like I already know what's going to happen, so it's a tad bit boring. I bought the set of 4 paperbacks for this series, so I still have A Feast for Crows to read. Hopefully not knowing what happens in that book will revitalize my passion for this series.

At any rate, I am really enjoying Tyrion's narrative as he's my favorite character. It's interesting to have Jamie's narrative this time so we can see what makes this kingslayer tic. (view spoiler)[ I do feel sorry for him that he got that label because he killed the mad king instead of being forced to kill his own father. The others were going to kill the king anyway, but since Jamie was in the King's Guard, he's seen as an oathbreaker. Seems like he didn't have any good options there. (hide spoiler)] Davos and Bran are not very interesting, but maybe they'll get better. Sansa was so annoying to me in the first two books, but I'm hoping she grows up and changes. (view spoiler)[ Maybe Tyrion's cleverness will rub off on her now that they are married. (hide spoiler)] So now I'm just speeding through trying to finish so that I can start Book 4.

Talia, I have been reading the book and then watching the series, so that I don't spoil what happens. I have finished Storm of Swords but haven't seen the series yet. I found that I enjoyed Davos in this book. (view spoiler)[ I like his perspective of that red witch. She is crazy and the power she has over Stannis is scary. I like that he tries to influence Stannis and pushes the boundaries. (hide spoiler)] I agree that I don't find Bran very interesting.

I found that the first two books I didn't like Sansa at all but I started feeling sorry for her in this book. (view spoiler)[ I think I am liking her more because everyone else I like keeps dying, so there aren't many people left to like. She has so much bad stuff happen to her that I just can't help to want something good to happen to her.

I too liked the Jamie chapters in this book. I used to cringe when he came up but I loved the interaction between him and Brienne (or however you spell her name) They were quite funny together. (hide spoiler)]
