I would like to meet Agatha Christie's Hercule Poirot and match wits with his "Little Grey Cells".
Although it would also be fun to meet Miss Marple, and solve a cunning mystery over tea while knitting by the fire!

Lorraine (saanichlori) | 418 comments I'd like to meet Armand Gamache, hopefully in Three Pines, while having dinner at the Bistro.

message 6: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (elizabeth8921) | 5308 comments I too would like to meet Armand Gamache. I am so hoping that this series will continue.

message 7: by E.L. (new)

E.L. (elouisebates) Lord Peter Wimsey. Although I'd probably be a tongue-tied, starry-eyed idiot around him. Brother Cadfael would be my second choice.

You go with Spenser and I go with Hawk :D

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) Sherlock Holmes.

(Also, since I just mentioned him yesterday - Eric, the ghost in "That Old Flame of Mine"... but not for intellectual reasons.)

message 11: by Jeanie (new)

Jeanie Jackson | 52 comments Eve Dallas (and Roark)

message 12: by Diana (new)

Diana Dunn (dianaxdunn) | 49 comments I would love to meet Archie Goodwin…and Sherlock Holmes (as played by Benedict Cumberbatch, anyway)…but Archie has been a real favorite for MANY years…read him all through my teens…twenties…thirties…still read him now…and still think he's wonderful…

message 13: by Olivia (new)

Olivia Plasencia (face_behind_the_camera) I would love to meet Hamish Macbeth just to hear him talk and take in how the author describes him. Sometimes I think I am not picturing him properly.

I agree Holmes would be fantastic to meet! I wonder what he would deduce when he met me.

message 17: by Diana (new)

Farah (bookworm-87) Hercule Poirot and Eve Dallas from the In Death series by J.D Robb.

message 19: by Christine (new)

Christine | 97 comments Joe Morelli and Mike Chapman. Or Ranger. I could go with any of them.

message 20: by Anna (new)

Anna Loan-Wilsey | 67 comments I could gain a lot by hanging out with Brother Cadfael for awhile. But I'd like to meet Jessica Fletcher too just as long as I was guaranteed not to be the one to die when she's around (haha).

Anna wrote: "I could gain a lot by hanging out with Brother Cadfael for awhile. But I'd like to meet Jessica Fletcher too just as long as I was guaranteed not to be the one to die when she's around (haha)."

Anna she does seem to always be in that situation! LOL!
She would be fun to hang out with though.

message 34: by Barbara (new)

Barbara Holoboff | 5 comments Great question! I would love to meet Alex Cross (James Patterson) and Jack Reacher (Lee Child). I would LOVE to meet the authors as well!

message 35: by Jeanie (new)

Jeanie | 18 comments I want to move to Three Pines, buy Jan'es cottage, and have drinks and dinner at the Bistro with Armand Gamache--and his lovely wife, who I want to be when I grow up. Since I'll be living in a fictional world anyway, I'd invite Sherlock Holmes, Archie Goodwin, Nero Wolfe, and Hercule Poirot to join us for dinner--I'd want to be seated between Armand and Archie.

On another evening I'd invite Peter and Helen Shandy and the Balaclava President, Thorjeld and his wife siglinda, along with the Gamaches.

message 36: by Barbara (new)

Barbara Holoboff | 5 comments I would love to sit with Lisa Garner! As someone asked her "How do you sleep at night?!!!"

Melodie (melodieco) | 5280 comments Barbara wrote: "Great question! I would love to meet Alex Cross (James Patterson) and Jack Reacher (Lee Child). I would LOVE to meet the authors as well!"

I've met Lee Child and he's a very nice, very funny man. Met him at Bouchercon in Chicago in 2005. I really liked him and really wish I liked the Reacher books, but I don't.

message 38: by Barbara (new)

Barbara Holoboff | 5 comments The only author I met was a science fiction writer. I am NOT a fan of science fiction. Forget his name.

message 39: by Barbara (new)

Barbara Holoboff | 5 comments I have read all the Reacher books. He (Lee Child) cannot write them fast enough for me!

message 40: by Lynn (new)

Lynn (lynnali) | 524 comments Erast Fandorin, Hercule Poirot, and Julian Kestrel.

message 41: by Barbara (new)

Barbara Holoboff | 5 comments I started reading a Hercule Poirot novel, but could not get into it. It was written decades ago and I think the outdated language turned me off.

message 42: by Ruch (new)

Ruch (fablescar) Sherlock Holmes, no doubt!

message 43: by Andrew (new)

Andrew Nelson (andrewgnelson) This is an interesting question to me, as someone with a background in law enforcement. I enjoy reading mystery / crime books but often I don't get a connection with the protagonist. For me I would have to say the Jesse Stone character by Robert Parker is the quintessential flawed cop.

message 44: by Michele (new)

Michele | 38 comments Richard Jury!

message 45: by Barbara (new)

Barbara Lockie | 17 comments Miss Marple. What a mind she has. Actually any of Agatha Christies characters.

I think it would be great to meet KoKo and Yum Yum, and Mrs. Murphy, Tee Tucker, and Pewter as well.
