Michael I mean seriously the ending of the final book was horrible with sookie being with nor Bill or Eric and now this book with all the horrible endings and the author just rubbing our faces in that sookie stayed with Sam forever and Eric's fate. Why. Why did the author have to ruin my favorite series.

And if that wasn't bad enough true blood was horrible these past few years and now it's ending, yep my favorite show is ending. With no weretigers or giving the faeries a proper story line. And it's ending with just a small 7 seasons I thought it was going to go on for 13 like the books. Ugh I just wish there was some redemption for this series I would have never got into this at the second season of true blood if I knew this was going to happen.

So what did you think?

Michael I won't be either

Ginger I completely agree with you. I did read the series all the way through around book 10 she had lost interest and just became insulting. I wont watch anymore of the TrueBlood series because other than character names it has nothing to do with the books. I have been betrayed by CH as an author and I certainly wont be reading any of her other books in the future. Too many good authors out there.

PS. I loved the ending and who Sookie ended up with. So, before anyone says "You just liked Eric" that was not the reason why I was left with a feeling of complete dissapointment.

Hitandmiss I keep trying to convince people, but no one takes me seriously, The Sookie Stackhouse Series, was Ghost written, and unfortunately said, the author passed away. Charline being the public face of the series had to improvise and finish the series as fast as she could before she did even more damage to the series with her poor writing and diabolical laziness.

Seriously people! I can't understand any other way in which an author spends 10+ Years writing a novel, earns millions and has legion of fans and then chooses to deliberately face plant it, completely tainting her previous works.

It very well could've been ghost written, like the vampire diaries, Charlene could have been fired from writing or something but they throw money at her to shut her up

I'm convinced that Dead Ever After was ghost written. It's the only way to explain the complete change in voice and style. I actually re-read the whole series right before I picked up the last one and it just didn't seem like it was written by the same author.

ED CH lost the plot in the last 3 books or so. Characters behaved OOC and the story felt forced, and just plain wrong. The "After Dead" book... What can I say. I honestly have no words. The biggest rubbish ever.

Line No question, CH lost interest in her story, and gained interest in money and fans, otherwise the story would have ended around book 10...
I actually like the concept of the 'After Dead' book, but it wasn't done properly...

Agreed, I was very intirested in reading it (before being dissapointed by the last book). Reading reviews of it, I think I wont even borrow it from the library.

I totally agree. I felt like I was being insulted when I read it. Why bother?

Im sorry but I do feel entitled to a little more than a slap in the face from an author that I have been supporting. I purchase her books, I talk to people about them, I even watched part of the True Blood series. She had a great story going and I feel betrayed. She should know that, if she didnt want feedback then she should not have her work published. And if she did do it on purpouse then that is just shameful and sad. Why intentionaly destroy your own work out of spite?
Yes, I was a fan until I was made to feel that she didn't care about the story and her caracters, just getting another book out to sell. Too many other good writers out there to waste my time and money on someone who does not care anymore.

Tracy St Claire I wish I never read this book.

message 14: by Jen (new) - rated it 3 stars

Jen Honestly? I was completely happy that Sookie & Sam ended up together! He was always there for her, in a way the vamps weren't. I never felt that there was anything other than just straight up lust between Sookie, Eric, & Bill, so I liked that she ended up with someone who could completely love her & I always thought he had a bit of a thing for her through the whole series anyway!! I liked being able to see what happened to the characters, although, there were quite a few that I had to try really hard to remember who they were.

See, I thought it was the other way around. Charlaine wrote the books when she was interested in them, but when True Blood made her super rich, she didn't feel like writing anymore and hired a horrendous ghost writer.

Zindia Pierson I am going to agree and disagree with some of you. I liked the ending of the series. There was really only 4 ways it could end. Sookie could die, Sookie could be turned into a Vampire and end up with Bill or Eric, Sookie could stay alive and end up with no one or Sookie could end up with Sam.

CH choose Sam, which was predictable after the second to the last book.

I do agree that the series should have ended earlier, the 3 books before the the last one were not that good and you can only have someone trying to kill Sookie so many time before it gets repetition, which is what happened.

i will probably read another CH book, though I have a lot of other book before it.

As for TrueBlood, they stopped following the books or even referring to the book's storylines after the 3rd season. It has not been that good, so I am glad to see them end it. There is no way to fix it, since they totally went off the track with it. But, I will finish watching it, just to see how they end it, b/c right now all I see them doing is killing every character off.

Cat Wright I really didn't have a problem with her ending up with Sam but I did have a problem with the quality of the writing in the past 4-5 books. You could tell she was burnt out on the characters, the books didn't have that same excitement the earlier ones did. She should have ended the series then while she still cared somewhat.

BUT, when I read the garbage that was "After Dead, What comes next" I realized she hated the characters! That was a negative and depressing book and why she would give the characters such bad endings just did it for me. She did such a disservice to her fans with that book that I will not buy or read another book by her. She cut of her nose to spite her face as far as I'm concerned.

message 18: by Linda (new) - rated it 1 star

Linda After Dead was just a depressing mess, whatever you think about the series and the ending.
Could you be more morbid than that? Everyone dies or suffers, FFS I´ve got enough of that in RL, I read for the fluff - not realism.
IMHO - an awesome series wilted and died, and she tried to get as much money out of it as she could *shrugs* and we had to pay for it. Never again.
