Really starting to worry I might not get my challenge completed. I need to read 3 books over today and tomorrow and I'm also starting to panic over the multitude of essays I need
to write. So panic is generally setting in...

When do you go back?

4th Jan, although my essays aren't due til like the 16th.

All I want to do is sit and slob and read. But oh no :P

I've had the strangest thing happen to me.

Let me preface this with the fact that I've always had some allergies to dyes and inks, but ... For the last 3 or 4 years I have read almost exclusively books on Kindle. When I got my signed Stephen King book, I started reading it with the dust jacket on. Next day, my hands were read and itchy and swollen! It took several days of cortisone cream to clear it up.

Did I learn my lesson? Of course not. I started reading another brand new book with a dust cover--same thing. At least the second time I caught on when they first started itching!

That's awful, Becca! Are you okay with it once you've taken the dust jacket off?

Faye, it seems ok without the dust cover. I could always have reading gloves!

Yikes! So sorry to hear about your reaction, Becca! At least you didn't fall asleep with you face in the book, as I so often do. :P

Okay, it's 8:41am here on New Years Eve, and I still have to finish 3 books (half way through one). AAAH.

Go for a Judy Blume book. You can easily knock those out in a couple hours.

So, we are moved in the new house and most of the boxes are unpacked. Still lots to do, but I'm able to start relaxing and reading some more.

Our house is on Eliot Court... Which I didn't think much of until we explored the neighborhood. All the streets in our subdivision are named after authors! Mark Twain, TS Eliot, Thoreau, ect. Kinda excited about that!

It's a sign Karolyn! Enjoy the new atmosphere, it should make for a good environment to get some reading done.

I hope so! I need to add some Eliot to my 2015 reading list.

Happy new Year. Am reading my first book of 2015 and am almost done. Three Graves Full

I have started a buddy read - The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas. This one has been sitting on my To-Read stack for the last year. My challenge is to try to finish it by the end of January. (sigh) Come and join for high adventure and romance and this will also tick the Historical-Fiction box too. :D

I love that book, Melissa! I'm not sure that I can fit it into my January plan but I will definitely try and give it another read if I can.

Has anyone read The Slap? It's been on my bookshelf for years but I haven't gotten to it and now I see that they have made a TV series out of it. Just wondering if it's worth the read before the show starts next week.

I read the Slap and I liked it (3 stars), I also saw the TV series, but I liked the book more.

@ Becca, Wow, good on you for going a little wild, I often wonder if I would be brave enough to colour my hair (my preference would be blue!) to mark an approaching significant age milestone. I have got a teen and she is horrified/terrified of my plan LOL.

@Kiwi, my daughter is in her 40s. She's used to me by now!

Hello, on this fine January, Monday afternoon; it is 72 degrees F in the sunny Denver area of Colorado. Just thought you would all like to know, yah, just rubbing it in a little. :P

I finished Collected Poems by W.B. Yeats and Good Night, Mr. Tom by Michelle Magorian. Both books were wonderful; Yeats is beautiful poetry and the children's book, Good Night, Mr. Tom, I would consider a delightful, sweet read that might cause a few tears.

I've got off from work because of the snow, so it's of day of shovels, hot cocoa, and report cards for me. With liberal breaks for reading, of course!

It's finally snowing here after a month-long "snow drought," and I'm actually really happy about it! I hate staring at mud, grass, or messy ice and slush all winter. I'd much rather have the cozy white blanket. :)

It's just grey and miserable here in England... I'd love some snow! But preferably when I don't have to travel in it tomorrow...

I think Mother Nature got confused and sent a double dose of snow to New England rather than splitting it between there and England!
