Aha, I wish! I think I'm just unlucky being in the south. Scotland and the north have been having a decent amount. The south just never have any!

Amber (amberterminatorofgoodreads) we get snow in Tennessee but it doesn't stick and it melts. I guess cuz its too warm down here. LOL.

message 803: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Coyle | 1557 comments We get snow her in the Denver area, but it usually melts in three days. At the moment we are having a wonderful warming spell, about 68 degrees F. today and sunny. No need for Florida this week! Stay warm everyone in Snowland. :)

You know when there's so many books and you can't decide what to read because you want to read them all?

I'm having that moment.

message 805: by Kassandra (new)

Kassandra | -1 comments That's the best worst problem to have! I've been having it a lot this year. If only work didn't get in the way, I would just solve it by reading all day!

Holly (hollycoulson) | 1949 comments Mod
Iasa, that's just what I've been doing!

Going through my to-read list and seeing if they're in the library. Think I'm gonna have a good list!

Haha, you'll be 99 years old, bugging all the nurses in the nursing home when they tell you it's lights-out time - "Five more minutes? I still have 50 books left to read before I die, you know!"

My stack of unread books that I own is pretty close to hitting the ceiling, but I've been reading mostly library books lately. That's partly because I'm in more of a time-crunch to read the library books, but deep down I know it's mostly because I have no idea which of the dozens of unread books to read first. So yeah, I know exactly what you mean!

message 809: by Kassandra (new)

Kassandra | -1 comments Hey all! I'm in need of an opinion...my hubby has booked a nice night away for my birthday tomorrow and I'm wondering if it would be too much for me to bring my stash of books? I don't want to send the wrong message, but I don't think I'll be able to refrain from reading all weekend either! Is this rude...or just practical?!

message 810: by Alessandra (new)

Alessandra (chibisuke) | 266 comments I'm sure your hubby will understand it, Kassandra. Maybe just take a few with you? For spare time and before sleeping f.e.

message 811: by Bella (new)

Bella | 33 comments Kassandra wrote: "Hey all! I'm in need of an opinion...my hubby has booked a nice night away for my birthday tomorrow and I'm wondering if it would be too much for me to bring my stash of books? I don't want to send..."

Whenever we go on vacation, my husband knows that I work on packing books before clothes. And I obsess over the books. Will we go and hang out at the pool? Then I need some light reading. It's a little easier now that I have an ereader, but choosing my books is always my first priority. My husband is used to it, I'm sure your husband understands that you can't relax unless you have a stash of books.

And Happy Birthday, Kassandra! Have a great vacation.

message 812: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Coyle | 1557 comments I'd bring the books you need, but only bring them out when there is spare time, because he wants to spend special time on your special day. :)

Happy Birthday, Kassandra! Hope you have a memorable day!

message 813: by Kassandra (last edited Feb 19, 2015 10:49AM) (new)

Kassandra | -1 comments Alessandra, Melissa and Bella, you're right! Bella, it's so funny, I do the same thing when going on vacation. Even now, I'm thinking of the books and won't even think about the clothes until a few minutes before we leave.

Melissa - good idea to restrict the time with the books. Thank you for the wise words :)

Thank you for the birthday wishes!

message 814: by Alessandra (new)

Alessandra (chibisuke) | 266 comments Isn't that normal for bookworms? I'm on vacation next week, too and I already planned which books I want to read.

Happy Birthday Kassandra. Completely forgot to include this in my other message. Have fun on your trip you two!

message 815: by Kassandra (new)

Kassandra | -1 comments I'm going to assume that it is normal, it certainly seems to be in this group! Have a fantastic vacation next week Alessandra.

Overbooked ✎ (kiwi_fruit) | 800 comments Happy birthday Kassandra, agree with what already said about vacation books, you don't want to be left without when you have some spare time ;-) Enjoy your night away!

message 817: by Amber (new)

Amber (amberterminatorofgoodreads) happy birthday kassandra and you can either bring a few paperbacks with you or your e-reader.

message 818: by Kassandra (new)

Kassandra | -1 comments Thank you Kiwi and Amber.

Iasa, absolutely it's in addition to the book I always have with me. That doesn't count does it? ;)

Whahaha! Iasa outs us all!
Happy Birthday, Kassandra! I have no advice on books, since I hope you're having so much quality one one one time that you're much too tired to read. ;-)

message 820: by Kassandra (new)

Kassandra | -1 comments Everyone has to take a break sometime ;)

message 821: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Coyle | 1557 comments You mean from reading?

message 822: by Kassandra (new)

Kassandra | -1 comments Not reading ;)

message 823: by Sam (new)

Sam I'm on my honeymoon, still reading and on good reads. He knew he was marrying a bookworm ;)

Happy Birthday!

message 824: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Coyle | 1557 comments Congrats Sam! Happy Honeymooning, books and all!!! :D

message 825: by Kassandra (new)

Kassandra | -1 comments Happy honeymoon Sam!!!

message 826: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Coyle | 1557 comments Kassandra, I thought you and hubby were celebrating your birthday! Why are you talking to this lot?

message 827: by Bella (new)

Bella | 33 comments Congratulations on your wedding, Sam. Wishing you many years of happiness. (This year will be my 25th anniversary.)

And I know your husband understands about reading- even on your honeymoon. My husband is more of an outdoors type. And one of the reasons I knew he was a keeper was that even on a beautiful spring or summer day, he would take me on an all day used book store tour.

message 828: by Sam (new)

Sam Thank you all. We're in Thailand so I get to read lots by the pool, when we're not exploring. Bella my husband is very outdoorsy too. When he proposed he toom me to the top of the cliffs at Whitby (understanding my love of dracula), but it was also my 30th birthday so he bought me a kindle! (understanding my love of books)

Oh My God! So sweet! Keeper!

message 830: by Bella (new)

Bella | 33 comments Wow, Sam, what a romantic proposal! I'm envious about Thailand- I bet it's nice and warm there. Plus the food. Just thinking about Thailand makes me hungy.

message 831: by Sam (new)

Sam Bella it's wonderful. the weather is great, always sunny and much warmer then England! The food is delicious, even my fussy other half likes it!

message 832: by Holly, That Geeky One (new)

Holly (hollycoulson) | 1949 comments Mod
Sam, he's definitely a keeper. Hold tight and don't let him go!

I'm thinking of updating the banner. Does anyone have any opinions on a theme or what it should say?

message 833: by Renee, Mistress of the Mini-Challenge (new)

Renee M | 4789 comments Mod
I think the current banner is so beautiful! I hope you'll stash it somewhere to use again.

Becca Tyler (scrappybec) | 296 comments I enter every giveaway on Goodreads and other book sites, but never win. I received a notice yesterday that I actually won

message 838: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Coyle | 1557 comments Way to Go, Becca!!! Love a free book! :D

message 839: by Kassandra (new)

Kassandra | -1 comments I just realized that a movie is being made of Dark Places - this is so exciting for me because I loved that book. I'm really looking forward to seeing how they pull this off.

message 840: by Becca (new)

Becca Tyler (scrappybec) | 296 comments Since I wasn't a member for the full year last year, this question never occurred to me.

If you read a book that, for example, fits a January genre category, but you read it later in the year, do most of you still count it against that genre?

message 841: by Renee, Mistress of the Mini-Challenge (new)

Renee M | 4789 comments Mod
Good Question! I'm finally getting to make some headway with Unbroken, which was the NF Group Read in January.

message 842: by Faye, The Dickens Junkie (new)

Faye | 1415 comments Mod
If you want it to count, it counts. These are personal challenges, so do whatever's comfortable for you. :)
