The Reading Challenge Group discussion

So sorry I've been so absent recently! Summer has been far more hectic than I imagined (I've basically hardly read!).

In better news though, I had my birthday and got into my first choice Uni!! So it's been a manic week sorting everything out for university.

I am about to go on holiday for 2 weeks, which is basically two weeks of reading solidly. So I should be around a lot more!

I hope everyones reading is going well.

I'm 18 books behind, its going to be hard to catch up. Then again, looking at my reading lists for the first semester, there's gonna be a lot of reading! Perhaps I'll still make 100 this year!

What can I say? Some of you may have noticed that we've just hit 1000 members! While member count was never a big interest for me and Faye, this is one massive milestone that we never expected to reach!

Who knew 8 months ago that this group would get so big, and with such an amazing number of members who post frequently and really make the group what it is.

Thanks to each and every one of you for clicking that 'Join Group' button. Here's to finishing this year, and hopefully sticking along for next years ride!

Woot! Congratulations Faye and Holly and the rest of the group for hitting 1000 members! I'm really happy to be a part of the group and looking forward to the rest of the year.

That's a very exciting milestone! Hooray! More people to talk to about books! :D

We've had a manic increase in members over the last 2 days. I really have no clue why!

Holly, I think people are starting to look toward the end of the year and keeping on track with their personal goals. There's no better group than ours for that, especially with our name!

I guess so! We've gained nearly 20 members today!

I'd bet good money that more than a few have joined because we're reading To Kill a Mockingbird next month. It's such a classic that most groups have already done it, so newer members don't often find groups to buddy read it with. :)

Worked it out. Turns out we have the honour of being on the Featured Group list on the main Groups page. Can't really moan at that!

Way to go Holly and Faye on the Featured Group list and agreeing with Iasa on the creation of wonderful and fun group. You all keep me inspired!

Holly, pardon my ignorance but is there a criteria for getting on the Featured Group list? It's a fantastic achievement!

There's only really a thread in the Feedback group where you can apply to be a featured group. I posted there back in like February and didn't really expect anything. That's why I didn't even think about it when it happened today, because it was such a long time ago.

Has anyone noticed an increase of friend requests from guys from out of the blue? (As in, not people you've met in a group.) I really don't want this to turn into THAT kind of site.

I've had one similar request, Renee, which I obviously didn't accept. That was when I still had a daisy as a profile picture - highly attractive!

I'll accept a friend request from anyone I've chatted with (you know, unless they seemed crazy). Even someone new to a group I'm in, because that's how you find your way.

I've noticed an influx of friend requests as well, but I can't say that they have been from random men Renee...your reputation for humour and charm must have leaked out of the group! I would hate for this site to turn into that kind of site too. Let us know if you figure it out!
