My copy uses the word 'obscenity' every time someone swears. It's actually hilarious when Robert Jordan is literally leaving a trail of obscenities in the air!
Those were the times. Hemingway used to talk about Max Perkins, his editor at Scribner, marking up his obscenities. Funny from today's point of view!
I've never come across it before!
