Casceil | 50 comments I've never read anything by Caitlin Kiernan, but I would like to. Where should I start?

Ben Rowe (benwickens) Red Tree and Drowning Girl are similar and superb but I do feel that Drowning girl is the better of the two and is an easy start point.

I would not go for Blood Oranges (its fine but nothing special) which she writes as Kathleen Tierney (or something similar).

Red Tree and Drowning Girl are quite different apparently from her previous novels and are not as well regarded but mainly they are just very different from Red Tree and Drowning Girl.

Her short fiction is also very highly praised and she is regarded as one of the best current writers of short weird fiction. Her short fiction has been collected in several different collections and anthologies. There is a recent best of but it was in quite an expensive but lovely edition. I have not read enough of her short fiction to recommend a good start point there.
