What if Edmund made armor?

Am I alone in thinking that Edmund could have made some kind of protective gear with leather? An armor of sorts to protect from the Muties claws

That would have been helpful, but I think they probablly didn't have enough supplies to make for everyone. Plus leather wouldn't have been that efficent.
I do agree that they probably wouldn't have had enough supplies. But I think it probably was effective since the Gaspard guards wore reinforced leather armor so I think it could've helped.
i think that it would have taken a lot of the drama out of the story if there was more protection for Company D and everyone else. I think that there was a lot of value to what he made in the boots/shoes that it was enough - but to have armor too - i don't know if he would have been the one to do that since Salvation was a God fearing town, not one to do battle
