J-Lynn Van Pelt | 118 comments Nick,
Has anyone volunteered to lead the discussion on Ender's Game? I would love to step up for that. I taught that book in my 9th grade class for several years and love it! Plus, I already have tons of discussion questions for it.

J-Lynn,

That would be awesome! I would also love to talk wit you in the future about your experiences teaching secondary English. I'm a year and a half away from graduating in Secondary Ed, English and Social Science.

Consider Ender's Game your book!

Nick

Shannon (shannoncb) I'm looking forward to reading Ender's Game in May. I've had it recommended to me so many times over the last year (I'd never heard of it before - but then it is sci-fi and I'm more of a fantasy reader) and so I have it on my shelf, waiting for an opportune time. It'll be great to have people to discuss it with!

We do seem to have more sci-fi on the block than fantasy though. I guess that's because of people's nominations? I think I forgot to vote.

We are supposedly alternating between sci-fi and fantasy; although the division between them is sometimes not very clear.

Yeah, I'm trying to alternate and delineate them as best I can. I think I have it pretty even. A few are hard to decide on being scifi or fantasy.

J-Lynn Van Pelt | 118 comments Nick,
Sweet! I am super excited to lead Ender's discussion. And I am always willing to discuss teaching. I love it!

message 8: by John (new)

John | 129 comments Nick, I'll offer myself out there as well to discuss teaching English. I've spent the last 2 years teaching English (grades 10-12) full time and the five years before that teaching English part-time (11th grade). My experience is in private schools, so that certainly colors what I do to some extent, but ultimately teaching English is teaching English.

Jakub (jnareb) | 29 comments What about latest (July, August, September) "which book to read and discuss" poll results?

When the poll ends, or one has answered it, there it vanishes valuable list of books one might want to read... so thanks a lot for publishing poll results for April..June
