Claudine Mo wrote: "Could not get into Gabriel at all at all."

Me too.

Claudine Mo wrote: "33% [spoilers removed]"

Z is killing me. Breaking my heart and frustrating me with all the sexual tension.

Jennifer I LOVED Gabriel in the first one. I don't think I finished the second one, but I want to try again because I really do love him.

Shannon The Co-Captain Well I didn't know it was fanfic. Makes sense as to why it's so long. Lol. I read the first 4 chapters last night and I like it so far except (I prayed to the gods of blah, blah, blah) if she keeps that up in every situation I'm gonna hate her. It was cute the first time now lets give it a rest. I'm picking this one back up too. Lol.

Rae I'm starting this today!!!! Eeeeek!!! I'm in love with this series. =)

Jennifer Rae wrote: "I'm starting this today!!!! Eeeeek!!! I'm in love with this series. =)"

Yay!!!!!!!!

Shannon The Co-Captain I need to start doing audio books again. They're just so $$$

message 59: by Rae (new) - rated it 4 stars

Rae Ohhh I know!! I wish audio books were cheaper =/

~IreneOust~ I am LOVING this! I am about 10 chapters in and this story is so much more up my alley vs Rhage/**** ... What can I say, I like my men dark and broken ;)

Shannon The Co-Captain See I've always got mine from the library and I downloaded the Overdrive app but I couldn't get it to work on my iPhone or iPad. I don't have anything other products to play mp3s. Maybe I should buy a cheap MP3 player. That would be perfect for work!!! What do you use Bk?

Can someone explain to me WTF fanfic is??? It seems to me that very few books out there have original plot according to so many who keep comparing EVERYTHING to fanfic (whatever it is)! I have never read Twilight nor do I ever plan to because that story will forever be assossiated with KStew and that dirty looking Pattison (sp?) guy and I don't care for either. What does Twilight have to do with Beatiful Bastard AND Gabriel's Inferno OR 50 Shades for that matter??

Shannon The Co-Captain Dusty is Twilight fanfic. It's like an homage to their favorite books. It uses the same character names and places. That's about it. Dusty is one of the best things I've EVER read. I've read nothing even comparable. It's a smart way to write really, get a following and then publish.

message 64: by Mo (new) - rated it 5 stars

Mo I still don't "get" fanfic.

Shannon The Co-Captain I don't know BK. I tried to get it to work for like two hours one day it said my products were too new. I think that was too new for the book I got from my local library. I need to look into it further really.

Jennifer ~ Irene ♥s ~ Søren ~ Ben O'Callahan ~ Joe Callahan ~ Javier ~ Manuel ~ wrote: "I am LOVING this! I am about 10 chapters in and this story is so much more up my alley vs Rhage/**** ... What can I say, I like my men dark and broken ;)"

You are farther along than me!!! You must really like it! Yay!!!!!! I love 'em dark and broken too :). Hence...Javier, our favorite drug lord :).

Shannon The Co-Captain Mo, I personally think fanfic is more about a love for writing vs. somebody wanting to "be a published author" and sell books. It's why some of it is so good.

Claudine The only reason I read those books was for Javier. Skipped the whole story to get to his parts.

Claudine And I'm my twisted mind I kind of like Mr O. Hoping he gets his soul back.

Shannon The Co-Captain Yeah. I think it was our local library BK. or actually READS is who the book came from using my local library card. Ok, I've ended up with with a bunch of stuff to do today (I forgot about the Christmas tree lighting and my husband is speaking) I'm totally gonna get wife of the year. I'll go ahead and take Little Buddy through Walk Thru Bethlehem while I'm out. It's the neatest thing we have with all these shops set up like they would have had during biblical days and people in costume and stuff and then I have friends coming over for the game. I probably need to drop one of these buddy reads :-/ I've got about an hour to read so I'm going to read a couple chapters of both books and see which really tickles my fancy :)

Shannon The Co-Captain 8% I love John Matthew!

message 72: by [deleted user] (new)

The best fanfic out right now is Dusty!!! Just putting it out there :)

Shannon The Co-Captain OMG!!!! Yes to Dusty. I've never read anything like it and they're publishing it. I'm so happy for them. That's one of the best pieces of fiction I've ever read. It's so poetic and the story is just so real and raw and just OMG. I'm a fan...can you tell?

message 74: by [deleted user] (new)

I had a fan girl moment when they announced that they are publishing!! And I don't do that, but for Dusty I squealed and lost my shit!!

Shannon The Co-Captain Oh BK Dusty is soooo good!

Shannon The Co-Captain Dusty deserves fangirling. Truth.

message 77: by [deleted user] (new)

I have it PDF if anyone needs!

Shannon The Co-Captain IRENE. I just noticed your comment about Twilight. I LOVE Twilight and actually had a bumper sticker on my old car that said "Caution: I drive like a Cullen" That being said, I don't think it would be your cuppa but I can't believe you would judge it based on its movie girl. For shame! Shame on you! Don't ever judge a book based on the movie or the fucktards they get to play the characters. Although Robert Pattinson did do a good job with the acting. He's just not a looker.

Shannon The Co-Captain I think I sent the mobi to BK already. I have it if anyone needs it. I'm looking for High Anxiety in any version if you know someone who had it.

message 80: by [deleted user] (new)

I know Many people who read Dusty and they didn't read Twilight. There are no similarities except the names. You don't have to read Twilight to appreciate the creativity that has come from it. It would be like reading any other story.

message 81: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm actually starting the fanfic Under the Apple Tree on Monday

Shannon The Co-Captain It would probably be easier really to read Fanfic without knowledge if the original because the names can throw me off. I become so intimate with the characters I feel like I actually "know" them it can be odd with fanfic.

message 83: by [deleted user] (new)

Exactly, it's weird to adjust at first because you feel so connected to the "real" Cullens.

message 84: by Mo (new) - rated it 5 stars

Mo Claudine wrote: "And I'm my twisted mind I kind of like Mr O. Hoping he gets his soul back."

LOL, Claudine, yeah, I am wondering about him.... dual personality or something.

message 85: by Mo (new) - rated it 5 stars

Mo I won't go near Twilight cos I cannot stint that Kristen Stewart. She just looks dirty.

Mochaspresso Mo wrote: "I still don't "get" fanfic."

Fan Fic is when a fan writes stories that are set within the same universe or world as his or her favorite book. Sometimes they use the same characters and put new spins on the story by continuing where it left off, retelling it from another character's pov or by doing a hypothetical "What would have happened if......". I once found a pretty good Fifty Shades of Grey Fanfic online where the story was retold from the POV of Taylor. I also read a Twilight one that was a hypothetical of what he was doing in Brazil when he left Bella in New Moon.

Sometimes fanfics become so popular that a publisher decides to clean it up and make enough detail changes in order to be able to publish it.

message 87: by Mo (new) - rated it 5 stars

Mo Well that Dusty one seems very popular. I started another one there recently and wonder if that was fanfic too. Must try and remember.

Mochaspresso I've been on the fence about whether to read "Dusty" or not. I go through periods where I don't like it when books romanticize very serious real life issues like drug abuse. I had that problem when I read the "Dark Duet" series. I tried, but I couldn't get past the sex trafficking.

message 89: by Mo (new) - rated it 5 stars

Mo the one I am thinking of is he is in prison and she comes in to teach them.... I started it and enjoyed it. not sure why it is not on my list of books.

message 90: by [deleted user] (new)

Hmmmm- I get you, but IMO I don't feel they romanticized it. It's a monster in their relationship. It's not cute, it doesn't make you feel good... You actually feel exactly how you would if that was an issue in your relationship. It's not pretty at all. But yes, substance abuse isn't an issue everyone can read about.

Shannon The Co-Captain Dusty is fantastic Mo.

Shannon The Co-Captain Dusty doesn't romanticize drug use AT ALL. It's poetic in it's description and its spot on in accuracy but it doesn't glamorize like most books and movies tend to.

Adormina Maria Klingsporn Edith wrote: "Jennifer wrote: "Z = My Heart :). This will probably be the 5th time I'm read this."

Mine too. Z is my favorite. Book three made me a true BDB fan. And then add John Matthew and now I'm a BDB fana..."

I did not I would add anything new, exactly the same feeling .. :)

message 94: by Mo (new) - rated it 5 stars

Mo Need to get off here and get reading.... chat later.

~IreneOust~ Claudine wrote: "And I'm my twisted mind I kind of like Mr O. Hoping he gets his soul back."

I hope he does too. I know he's got that fucked up side but doesn't everyone in this book. I hope there is more to his character than meets the eye.

Shannon, I can't get the mental image of those two (I think I only saw half of the first movie and not by choice) but, as you said, I know it won't be my cuppa so I'll pass and not just because of the movies. I really have no desire to.

Claudine I'm hoping at the very least Mr. O 's "it" will start working again. Omega may find it useful too.

~IreneOust~ I know! It took me a while to get used to "it" LOL!!!

Claudine By the sound of it, it would take anyone a while to get used to "It"

~IreneOust~ LOL! True ;)

Mochaspresso Speaking of drug use and abuse, what is the "red smoke"? I'm just starting book 6 (Phury's book) and I understand that the red smoke becomes a big problem for him in it. Is it also the same as the "hand rolls" that Vishous smokes, or it different? At first, I was imagining that it was along the lines of weed, maybe even chronic given the brother's penchant for hip-hop music, but then Phury refers to himself as an addict a few times and he even considers trying heroin in one of the books. It must be laced with something. How serious and addictive is it supposed to be in the BDB vampire universe?
