A World Without Sun discussion

Aaron tried to forc the incident out of his mind abd smiled genuinely at Chloe. "Why don't we go out today?" he asked.

Chloe smiled at bit, "Where?"

"I don't know." Aaron said. "You decide."

"Skating?" she asked, she had never went but wanted to see what it was all about.

"Okay." Aaron said. His face lit up. He'd always been a good skater.

"Do you know how?" she asked

"Yes. I used to love to skate." he said with a smile.

"Just don't let me fall." she said nervously.

"I won't." he said. "You can trust me on that."

Chloe smiled, "Thanks."

"Let's leave." Aaron said eagerly.

"We have to drop Lily off at school first." she reminded him.

"Yeah." Aaron said getting up. "Let's go. We're late already."

Chloe nodded and stood up and took Lily's hand.

Aaron picked up her backpack and started walking outside.

It was raining outside in the morning. So Chloe was wearing a large sweatshirt that hid her large stomach a bit, which she was glad for. She wasn't ready to explain that to Aaron if he was even home. She knocked on the door loudly and hoped he was home. Gabe would soon know she had left and come looking for her.

Aaron was asleep in his room. Lily was sleeping next to him. He stirred a little and looked out of his window when he heard the knock at the door. He had to pinch himself to make sure he wasn't dreaming. No. It couldn't be. He ran down the stairs, two at a time nearly falling at the bottom. He opened the door and without saying a word, hugged Chloe hard.

Chloe hugged him back, letting a few tears slip. "Aaron..."

"You're back." he breathed. "You're really back."

Chloe nodded, "I don't know how long we have before he comes looking for me."

"I won't let him get you." he said, "Not again. Then, he noticed her bulging stomach.

"Don't be mad." she whispered and looked down. "please."

He frowned. "What did he do to you?"

"Nothing." she shook her head and hugged her stomach, "j-just usual stuff. I'm fine."

"You're pregnant." he said "And that means it's not fine." he scowled. "He's an asshole."

Chloe bit her lip, "I-I don't want to talk about it Aaron." she whispered.

"Come in." Aaron said, not commenting any more on it. "You must be tired."

Chloe nodded and walked in, "h-how's Lily?"

"She's fine." Aaron said. "Sleeping. She's been missing you a lot."

"I missed her too." She looked up at Aaron, "You too."

He looked at her, a tortured expression in his eyes. "Me too." he said. "I missed you every day."

She hugged him again, "I'm sorry."

"It's not your fault." he said angrily. "It's all because of your bloody stepfather."

Chloe nodded and sat down, feeling tried. "Aaron.."

He shook his head. "Nothing you say is going to change the fact that I hate him."

"I know." she said, "I hate him too."

"I never want him to find you again." he said.

"What about Lily? He could get to her again." she sniffled.

"We'll keep her home for some time." he said. "She can't go to school now."

She nodded rubbing her stomach, "Okay."

Aaron frowned again, his expression darkening.

Chloe froze at his gaze and looked down.

"Come on." he said, not looking at her. "You need some sleep. You've been through a lot."

Chloe nodded and stood up. She had been through a lot but she had a feeling it wasn't over yet.
