A World Without Sun discussion

Chloe bit her lip, "Will your foster parents care were here?"

"Nah..." he shook his head. "Sometimes they even forget I'm here."

Lily held Aaron's hand,"You are here." she smiled.

"Yeah I am." he said looking down at her "But they tend to forget that....most of the time."

Chloe frowned and sat on the couch, "Why did they even adopt you if they don't want you?" she asked confused.

"They wanted a kid." Aaron explained. "Abd they were pretty nice before but now, they've got really important jobs to take care of. No time for me anymore."

Chloe nodded, she felt bad for Aaron but in her mind being ignored was better than going through what she did.
Lily smiled up at him, "I like you. We play games and your good at hide and seek." she tried to lighten the mood.

Aaron smiled. "Yeah. Thanks." he looked at Chloe. "Would you mind staying in your room when they come in though? Then I won't have to explain anything."

"No problem." Chloe said, she was nervous to meet his parents anyway. Plus, she didn't want to get kicked out.

"Thanks." he said. "That'll save me a lot of trouble."

"Will you get in trouble?" she asked, "When they find out you let me and Lily stay?"

"I don't know." he said. "Most probably, no."

Chloe bit her lip, "Are you sure? I don't want you getting in trouble over us."

"I won't." Aaron assured her. "They won't even notice you're there."

Chloe nodded and switched the tv on to some kid cartoon for Lily to watch.

Aaron looked at the cartoon and made a face. "She watches that?"

Lily sat on the floor absorbed by the tv.

Chloe shrugged, "I've never been picky as along as she was quiet."

"Yeah. That's right." Aaron said. He looked at her. "What do you want to do now?"

Chloe shrugged, "Do you think the police will get him?"

"Your stepfather?" Aaron asked. "No clue but I hope they do or he'd be here to mess up your life again."

Chloe nodded and jumped hearing a car pull into the driveway.

Aaron quickly walked towards a window to see who it was.

((his adoptive parents?))
Chloe fallowed him

"It's them." Aaron said. "Get into your room. They'll be up soon."

Chloe nodded and picked up Lily and rushed to her room.

Aaron opened the door for his parents and as usual, they pushed past him to go upstairs. Aaron followed them. "You know, I skipped school today." he said. "That's very good dear." his mother replied, stopping to open the door of her room.

Lily frowned, "Why are we hiding mommy?"
Chloe bit her lip, "ummm....hide and seek."
Lily smiled and clapped her hands, "Yay!"
Chloe shushed Lily, "We don't want to be found."

((Yeah...))

"Aren't you going to say anything to me?" he asked desparately. "Go and do your homework or something." his mother said, patting his head. "I'll talk to you later."

Chloe pressed her ear to the door trying to hear their conversation.

Aaron watched silently as his mother went into her room. He banged his head against the wall and sighed.

Chloe peeked her head out the door and went to Aaron's side. "You okay?"

"Oh....yeah." he said, looking up. "Just...." he faltered.

"Come on." Chloe said gently putting a hand on his shoulder, "Tell me."

"My parents." he said. "Did you just see them?"

"I heard." Chloe said, "And I'm sorry."

"Nothing to be sorry about." he pursed his lips. "They're not your problem.'

"They're not yours either." Chloe said gently, "If they can see what a sweet guy you are thats their problem."

"Thanks." he said, looking at her. "That's a compliment I wasn't expecting."

Chloe blushed and smiled, "But its a compliment you deserve."

Aaron leaned against the wall, about to say something when a voice came from inside the room. His mother. "Who are you talking to out there, Aaron?" he closed his eyes. "Now you notice." he muttered.

Chloe frowned and tugged his arm and pointed to her room.

Aaron followed her inside. "Nobody." he called out as he losed the door of the room. "Just to myself."

Chloe looked at him worried, "Are you okay?"

Lily sat in the corner playing with her stuffed elephant, silently.

"Yeah." he said sitting down very quickly on the be as if his legs had suddenley given way.

Chloe frowned and eased down next to him. "Do you want to talk?"

"About my parents?" he asked. "Not really. They're not worth it."

Chloe studied him for a minute, "Are you sure?"

"No." he said frustratedly. "I'm not. I'm not supposed to hate them but I do."

Chloe laid a hand on his, "Its okay if you do." she said gently.

Aaron looked T her hand that was holding his and sighed. "I don't want to."
