Rose Jones | 2 comments What did you think of the ending of the 7th book??? Was it good? Was it bad? Did it not meet your standards?

message 2: by Lynn (new)

Lynn (dwell_ondreams) | 25 comments I thought was really cheesy. It answered questions, but it wasn't very well done, in my opinion.

message 3: by Maya (new)

Maya (numerounochewylover) | 270 comments I can't believe you guys! So what if it didn't answer questions; I feel like if we had known everything about his life it would've been kind of boring. And which parts were cheesy?!?!?! (That's not a rhetorical question)

message 4: by Nikki (new)

Nikki Boisture I thought the epilogue was bad. Not that there was too much stuff left out, I just didn't think it was very well written. To me, it didn't sound like JK's voice.

Other than the epilogue however, I adored the last few chapters. Starting with the walk in the forbidden forest with his parents, Sirius and Lupin up to the final page was some of the best reading I remember doing in a LONG time. Listening to Jim Dale read those last few chapters on the audio recording is especially moving.

message 5: by Cliff (new)

Cliff | 18 comments I thought the ending was well done. Of course we don't know what's happened to Harry & Crew after the final confrontation. But you know authors are great at coming back to what's made them famous. I think there will be more Harry books-hopefully!

message 6: by Edith (new)

Edith (skyfeather) | 12 comments I beleive if you read the last chapter again, where The parents were sending the kids off to Hogwarts... I does say something about what they are doing now.
Harry is an aborist, as he had aways wanted. And everyone else is what they wanted to be also. But in my mind I beleive nevelle has the best job of all... He is a teacher at Hogworts, teaching about the plants and what they do.

Does this help?

message 7: by Edith (new)

Edith (skyfeather) | 12 comments If you all want to know so much about every little detail about the answers. Go to www.mugglenet.com, then join the mugglenet interactive.... it picks apart everything from all the books, in some places on mugglenet they show you the area where someone missed bad spots when they were proof reading...
Just to go mugglenet and check it out.

message 8: by Angie (new)

Angie I liked the ending. I liked how Harry and Draco acknowledged each other but yet you could tell they still weren't "friends". I like the fact we knew they were at a good point in their lives... and who knows, leaving the ending like that might open up a chance for more books (ok.. wishful thinking).

message 9: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (bookgoddess1969) I didn't thing there was anything cheesy about the last book! I thought it was great! Sure, I would've liked some more information at the end, but thats not my call, is it? I think it still leaves room for our imagination to wander a bit!

message 10: by Steph (new)

Steph (kitsune_chan) | 47 comments The ending was alright, but I thought it was kind of cheesy. It just seemed like a throw on to the rest of the book. Although I loved the seventh book, don't get me wrong. I would've likec to have more of an ending, like what has happened in the seventeen years that passed in between?

message 11: by Snow (new)

Snow (kdskid007) i thought harry sould have died, and stayed dead. give rowling something to write about. ron and hermione want revenge and go kill voldemort themselves!

message 12: by Kanika (new)

Kanika (kanikasood) | 113 comments i thought the ending was really not thought over because
1. harry and voldemort hardly had a fight and i thought that part shuld have been more dramatic
2. they only told us abt a few characters not all and personally i wuld love 2 noe wat happned to the weasley brothers and tons of others.

message 13: by Gunjari (new)

Gunjari (irajnug) | 732 comments liked it, even the epilouge... although i absolutely despise the name ALBUS SEVERUS!!!!!!! i mean, what were they thinking?!?! that little kid will be teased about his name for the rest of his life!

message 14: by Nikki (new)

Nikki Boisture LOL...Oh Gunjari, just look at some of the other names though. Draco's kid is named Scorpio! I vote that name as worse than Albus Severus....

message 15: by Michael (new)

Michael (fatmangoboom) The epilogue was a nightmare... I mean really it was vague and short... I wanted to know what became of these great characters...

I and the kids names... I mean my god what was she thinking...

As for the ending of the book... I loved it.. I thought it was excellent way to end the book...

I will just not read the epilogue anymore when I reread these books.... for years to come...

message 16: by Gunjari (new)

Gunjari (irajnug) | 732 comments the epilouge was kinda pointless, i must agree.
and scorpio sucks, but albus severus sucks more.
is it true that jo is writing more harry potter books? i mean not like extensions on the actual series, but like companion books from other characters' points of veiw???

message 17: by Snow (new)

Snow (kdskid007) *sigh* ya know guys, with the epilogue as lousy as it was, she left PLENTY of room for a spin-off series!

message 18: by [deleted user] (new)

It did. Harry turned into an auror.

message 19: by [deleted user] (new)

I think she wrote it pretty well, actully. But I don't like sad endings. :_(

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

What'a an oborist? I thought he was an auror?

message 21: by Gunjari (new)

Gunjari (irajnug) | 732 comments what the heckia are you talking about? who mentioned an oborist?

is it true that luna married rufus scamander, grandson of newt scamander (i'm not certain if it's mentioned in the epilouge)

message 22: by Brianne (new)

Brianne (iliketoreadbooks) | 242 comments i don't think it is. but i think she should of written a new epilogue that related more to the book, instead of the dusty old thing she'd written months ago

message 23: by JMZ (new)

JMZ | 14 comments While Rowling explains what happened herself later on to the characters I think it would have been best if there wasn't an epilouge. I liked learning what happened after Voldemort's death but some books are better left without them. Also it might have added to the story if Harry had died at the end.

Though, I can can understand why she wrote the epilouge. Probably to keep people from pressuring her to write more books in the Harry Potter series.

message 24: by Brianne (new)

Brianne (iliketoreadbooks) | 242 comments yeah

Lol...Naruto Rocks! (Katelyn, Haku.) I heard about the ending and I liked it!!

message 26: by Meghan (new)

Meghan | 686 comments It didn't answer enough questions for me. It wasn't what I was hoping for, but I'd never like the end of Harry Potter, even if it was perfect, because it's THE END! SOB!

ஐ Katya (Book Queen)ஐ (katyabookqueen) I thought the ending was lacking in so many ways. I was unsatisfied and was left with too many questions. Once I read her post DH interviews where she went into who married whom, what careers they had, did they graduate from Hogwarts after all, etc. then I finally felt closure.

message 28: by Brianne (new)

Brianne (iliketoreadbooks) | 242 comments yeah, but think about it, if she did a chapter listing all the stuff like jobs and stuff it'd be boring. and difficult since they're all over the wizarding world so it wouldn't be easy to do like harry walking around talking to people or anything.

Rachel (aka. Kaiserin Sisi) (looney-lovegood) | 246 comments Gunjari wrote: "liked it, even the epilouge... although i absolutely despise the name ALBUS SEVERUS!!!!!!! i mean, what were they thinking?!?! that little kid will be teased about his name for the rest of his life!"

Albus Severus is the kind of name that gets kids jinked. Poor, poor kid.

message 30: by Brianne (new)

Brianne (iliketoreadbooks) | 242 comments i kno he's gonna get beat up

ஐ Katya (Book Queen)ஐ (katyabookqueen) Scorpius is worse.

message 32: by [deleted user] (new)

I would love a continuation with Albus in slytherin. I thought the ending was a little lame i would like more details like what happend to Luna and Sirius

ஐ Katya (Book Queen)ஐ (katyabookqueen) Christina, try reading the James Potter stories by G. Norman Lippert. They follow Harry son James to Hogwarts. In his second book, lil Albus starts Hogwarts and indeed gets sorted into Slytherin.

message 34: by ஐ Katya (Book Queen)ஐ (last edited Oct 30, 2009 04:58PM) (new)

ஐ Katya (Book Queen)ஐ (katyabookqueen) Yes Ella. Even JKR alluded to it in the epilogue. No need to shout.

message 35: by [deleted user] (new)

Ella, my BFF, and I are alwys shouting. SEE?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

ஐ Katya (Book Queen)ஐ (katyabookqueen) Yeah Ella, I do. Online, typing in all capital letters is shouting. It's also considered rude.

ஐ Katya (Book Queen)ஐ (katyabookqueen) It's okay Ella. It's just part of netiquette that we all learn.

ஐ Katya (Book Queen)ஐ (katyabookqueen) netiquette is internet etiquette

message 39: by Jackie (new)

Jackie etiquette is like manners. its pretty much appropriate behaviour...

message 40: by ஐ Katya (Book Queen)ஐ (last edited Nov 01, 2009 12:11PM) (new)

ஐ Katya (Book Queen)ஐ (katyabookqueen) Correct Jackie.

Definitions:

Etiquette: rules governing socially acceptable behavior

Netiquette (Internet Etiquette): Online manners and rules of conduct for Internet users. One of the primary rules of netiquette is not typing messages in all uppercase letters, which is considered the equivalent of shouting.

message 41: by [deleted user] (new)

Okay then... at least you can't really hear us shout together! ;)

message 42: by Whitney (new)

Whitney | 17 comments i LOVED the last few chapters; they were AMAZING!! but i was really disappointed by the epilogue...i think she could've done better. it left me with like an empty feeling...but it is totally my favorite out of the series! :D

message 43: by Mercedes (new)

Mercedes (mercscraps) | 23 comments The epilogue ruined the ending for us. I know she must have been tired of writing about HP but it would have been better ended without the epilogue. Also could have left her an opening for a book later on if she wanted. An ending like the other books would have been better than the epilogue. After all, how exactly did Ron, Hermoine and Harry finish school? Rowling has said in interviews that Ron and Harry become Aurors but to do so they would have needed to finish school and take their NEWT's and probably work their way up despite who they were.

message 44: by LeOta (new)

LeOta (berrylota) Gunjari wrote: "liked it, even the epilouge... although i absolutely despise the name ALBUS SEVERUS!!!!!!! i mean, what were they thinking?!?! that little kid will be teased about his name for the rest of his life!"

Maybe in the wizarding community, this would be a very good name? Albus Dumbledore was one of the best wizards of all time. And Harry cleared Severus Snape's name and he is known throughout for his bravery.

message 45: by [deleted user] (new)

I did not like the epilouge. Harry, Ron, and Draco looked aged, but Ginny and Hermione looked the exact same except their hair was up. :(

message 46: by Jorge (new)

Jorge Garcia | 27 comments I really really think Harry should have died. It would be, for me, the best ending for the whole series. He would sacrifice himself for his loving ones and that would be it. I just don't think the message is as strong as it should be because he doesn't die... Some people don't value his act as much as it should be valued.

message 47: by [deleted user] (new)

I didn't like how, in the movie, Harry broke the Elder Wand and threw it off the bridge before he repaired his wand!!!

message 48: by Jorge (new)

Jorge Garcia | 27 comments In the movie, when Harry leaves Dumbledore's office and meets Hermione and Ron on his way to finally meet Voldemort, Hermione and Ron understand that Harry is one of the Horcruxes but only Hermione is moved about it. She moves forward and seems quite touched but Ron just stands there and sees his buddy leave and face death without saying anything or even hugging him... Well I don't think that's right.

message 49: by LeOta (new)

LeOta (berrylota) Jorge wrote: "In the movie, when Harry leaves Dumbledore's office and meets Hermione and Ron on his way to finally meet Voldemort, Hermione and Ron understand that Harry is one of the Horcruxes but only Hermione..."

Hermione suspected all along and Ron is just finding out. I took it more as Ron was still processing the information. Harry just wanted to get out of there.

message 50: by [deleted user] (new)

It would have been better without an epilogue, I think.
