LOL!!

message 103: by Janice (new)

Janice Wegener | 53 comments I'll pass on that. I'm still trying to find the right guy who will say "babe" just the way Dorie and I are imagining. I've got a feeling we are just going to have to close our eyes and rely on said imagination.

message 104: by T (new)

T (twoo) Okay, Ranger's taken care of, now who are the candidates for Morelli?

message 105: by Faith (new)

Faith | 136 comments Jason O'Mara has been cast as Morelli. I'm underwhelmed. What does everyone else think?

message 106: by T (new)

T (twoo) Uh. Who?

Okay, I had to go look. For anyone unfamiliar with Jason O'Mara and/or Daniel Sunjata, here are pictures with a May/2010 article:

http://popwatch.ew.com/2010/05/12/jas...

I think I'll stick with the books and my imagination....

Thanks for posting that link T. Jason O'Mara probably wouldn't be my first choice for Morelli but I can sort of see him in the part if he has the right demeanor. I guess we can only hope for the best.

message 108: by T (new)

T (twoo) How 'bout Joe Pesci as Vinny....probably too old again, I seem to be stuck in aging the whole cast....

message 109: by Dorie (new)

Dorie (dorieann) | 464 comments Yeah, Jason O'Mara doesn't match my idea of Morelli at all. He's not even Italian! That's okay though, I'm a Ranger babe anyway, so I won't be watching Morelli.

message 110: by Scout (new)

Scout (goodreadscomscout) | 1438 comments T, I can see Joe Pesci as Vinny. I don't remember Vinny's age being given in the books, so why not?

Thinking about Morelli, what about Mark Ruffalo? Don't know if he's Italian, but he looks the part, doesn't he? Like you, T, I'm probably thinking too old:)

message 111: by Carol/Bonadie (new)

Carol/Bonadie (bonadie) | 445 comments Vinny is Stephanie's cousin so I had assumed he would be her contemporary, or slightly older, which leaves Pesce way out. However, as Dorie said about Morelli I won't be watching Vinny so they can cast anybody.

Janice Wegener | 53 comments I like Joe Pesci as Vinny. For pete sake they have messed up the rest of the cast (as far as we're concerned)give us Joe he would be fun to watch. When is this "movie" going to be made I have yet to read anything about it only get my info from youall. As for Morelli I kind of leaned toward Mark Wahlberg (whew what a hottie) but not Italian.

message 113: by Scout (new)

Scout (goodreadscomscout) | 1438 comments I agree with you, Janice. The cast is messed up already, so why even think about it? I may not even watch the movie. Katherine Heigl??? Really??? What a lame actress to play such a "plum" part!

message 114: by Faith (new)

Faith | 136 comments Looks like it's due out some time next year.

message 115: by Jan C (new)

Jan C (woeisme) | 39208 comments Here's the link to imdb and the complete cast - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1598828/.

So no Joe Pesci. I think Debbie Reynolds is the only person I ever heard of in this cast. I think they waited too long to do it.

message 116: by Janice (new)

Janice Wegener | 53 comments Thanks for the link. I can't believe the cast (ugh) except for Debbie and Sherri I haven't seen any of these characters in anything. AND what do they mean giving us an Irish actor to play Morelli. I may have to go back and read One for the $$butdo think I will bypass the movie as I do not want it to color my conception of what I think they should all look and sound like. They did the same thing with a Sara Paretsky movie years ago ..... completly spoiled it by miscasting.

message 117: by Faith (new)

Faith | 136 comments Jason O'Mara was in the American version of Life on Mars. Wasn't a big fan though I love the original version. Anyway, he wasn't awful but he also wasn't Morelli. At all.

He also played the creepiest killer ever on two episodes of The Closer. Not the image I want in my head while I'm watching Morelli snuggle up to Stephanie.

Jeanne Brockway | 1 comments I love Stephanie Plum, I find myself laughing out loud with the characters she finds herself entwined with.

message 120: by Scout (new)

Scout (goodreadscomscout) | 1438 comments When I need a break from "serious" literature, I go for a ride with Stephanie. I think it takes great talent to write books that make people laugh out loud:)

message 121: by T (new)

T (twoo) I mentioned it in another thread - I recently read the 16th Plum and just finished Alex Kava's Black Friday and noticed that A.Kava has Nick Morelli, ex-sheriff (I think...some law officer) while J.Evanovich has Joe Morelli...Some day where there be a quick cross-reference of the two being related? :-)

message 122: by T (new)

T (twoo) Okay, slight detour, sorry, but I just finished "Wicked Appetite" which features Diesel, Wulf and Carl the Monkey from the "between" Plums....It was a fun read, nothing thought provoking, but fun....Eeep! :-)

Patricia (biba25) | 38 comments Just started One for the Money. It's my first Janet Evanovich book. I look forward to it as it seems the series is very popular. Often saw the books but never was attracted to it until now!

message 124: by Scout (new)

Scout (goodreadscomscout) | 1438 comments That's not the best one, just a start. Stick with them - they only get better:)

message 125: by Jan C (new)

Jan C (woeisme) | 39208 comments I thought they got worse. I didn't make it past 2 or was it 3 that stymied me.

message 126: by Scout (new)

Scout (goodreadscomscout) | 1438 comments Thanks for the back-up, Sabrina:) Do let us hear from you, Patricia.

message 127: by Jodi (new)

Jodi Langston (JodiLangston) I was disappointed in their picks for the movie. I think this would have made a fun series. I think it might be hard to stuff all that adventure into a movie.
I would loved to have seen the actor pictured with me in my avatar(Thorsten Kaye) as Morelli. He can pull off hot Italian with a sexy voice to boot. ;-D
I lost interest in the last few books, none of the characters change or grow.

message 128: by Scout (new)

Scout (goodreadscomscout) | 1438 comments I'm not a fan, either, but maybe Heigl will surprise us. I hope so.

message 129: by Patricia (new)

Patricia (biba25) | 38 comments Thanks Scout and Sabrina Fair! I finished One for the Money and I thought it was pretty good, although a bit dated (it is from 1994 so that was to be expected!) I will definitely read the next one.
Should I read them in order or can I just pick one to read next?

message 130: by Carol/Bonadie (new)

Carol/Bonadie (bonadie) | 445 comments Patricia, I'd recommend reading these in order, or you'll never keep track of Stephanie's relationship or car status, LOL.

Good question, Sabrina. I don't think I could answer any of the questions, though, except for the big gas guzzler of her uncle's that is kept at the parents' house.

Now her boyfriends, that's a different matter entirely!

message 132: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teresa_bowen) There are not many books that can make me laugh out in public but it happens every time with this series.

When I read Plum Spooky, I kept laughing out loud and hubby said, that book can't be that funny. Oh, yes, it is! He ended up reading it and laughed out loud.

message 134: by Curlyhair (new)

Curlyhair | 187 comments I love these books. I've just finished Four to Score and it was just as good as the first 3. I've converted a fellow reader and my mother in law to Stephanie Plum fans too. And yes I laugh out loud too.

message 135: by Wendy (new)

Wendy | 581 comments I have only read her first. One for the MoneyI have read it twice, trying to give it a chance to no avail. As the author is SO POPULAR I think I am am missing something? I have SO many books on my TR list, I have just bypassed her.

message 136: by Thomas (new)

Thomas (tom471) | 2009 comments My wife has been reading and laughing out loud at the Plum series for years, so I started too. I also like them.
