Katie (kater07) I need recommendations for excellent romance books. I don't read romance, but I need to get books as a gift. They need to be well-written, and not erotica of any kind.

She already reads Macomber, Roberts, and Sparks. I'm looking for something different. This is for a 65 year old woman who has read the classics and likes pop romance. I'm looking for something contemporary but well-written (preferably without a formula).

Thanks,
Katie

Rita (mamahummer) | 2 comments Try Nora Roberts or Beverly Lewis.

Harlequin Books (harlequinbooks) | 2 comments Susan Mallery and Kristan Higgins are the first two to pop in my mind if she is a fan of Macomber, Roberts, and Sparks. ~ Kim S.

Nada Al-Karmi (nadooush) I'm in the 2nd book of a neighbor from hell series & so far I'm in love. you should try it. It's the perfect mixture between romance and comedy.

Well I am of very little knowledge when it comes to romance genre but you can always have a look at This years Goodreads Choice award winners from Romance category... :)

But depending upon the taste of reading material you'll have to choose the best...

hope that helps..

C.J. Anaya (cjanaya) | 1 comments I recommend this NA romance Broken (Assumption) by Izzibella Beau

message 18: by Ann (new)

Ann | 4 comments I would highly recommend 'Thursdays in the Park' by Hilary Boyd. The main character is a 60-year-old woman who has been in a sexless marriage for 10 years. Whilst taking her grand daughter to the park, she meets a man a few years younger than her taking his grandson. Its romantic, dramatic and at times a bit saucey (don't assume that a 65 year old will object to a bit of friskyness. After all her generation were young adults in the 60s). I loved it because it's a great story, with strong characters, very well written and about older adults, rather than the usual 30-year-olds (I'm 54).

Another good one where the protagonists are 30 somethings, but its a lovely read is 'The Unpredictable Consequences of Love' by Jill Mansell.

Plaguedoctor I don't have any contemporary, but if she's willing to give paranormal a go then I recommend Dark Lycan by Christine Feehan. I only ever really read paranormal, sorry I couldn't be more help.
