How far did you get in the end?

And how was your journey? :]

I finished but just barely. All the meaty conflict got resolved several thousand words too early, and I was pulling plot from thin air. On the bright side, I have a lot to work with when I go back to edit.

I finished. :) This one gave me troubles. My characters keep misbehaving and I tried to make my plot something it wasn't, but it all turned out in the end.

Thats great :3

Had to give it up to meet the deadline on the MS I'm currently working on. Maybe next year.

Every word counts though :3

My goal is to tackle it next year. It depends on how busy I am next fall---maybe I'll have to do my "NaNoWriMo" goal during summer break. :3

They should have it in the summer rather than November. xD

Yeah I always thought November was abit random xP

So I did some research. The event started in San Franciso in July 1999, but it was moved to November basically to "take advantage of the miserable weather."

B-But people can write outside. D8 lol

I always do most of my writing in July :x

They do have Camp Nanowrimo in spring/summer where you can set your own word goal.

I believe the main event is set in November as super hard mode. This is literally the time of midterms and finals ;-;

Also I think it's hilarious that there's an actual camp for that lol but hey as long as people are writing :)

@Bisky I wish I had 3 essays a month xp try 3 essays every weekend. I guess that's what I get for being a bloody English major xp maaaan I just wanna write, is that so much to ask for? *cries*

Are they all 3000 words? o_o

Luckily not haha usually they're the standard 5pg essay (think that translates to about 1500 words? Idk never word counted school assignments before lol) with the occasional 10-15pg research paper.

I'm an English Ed. major and I have never written so much in one semester before this Fall. D8 lol I'll be doing a lot of writing within the next week and a half, but none of it will be fiction. :(

English, education, and sociology classes make you write quite a bit! xD

@Josh oh yes. It's dreadful. Why can't they just give us out diplomas?? D: that'd be so much more convenient.

I got to about 25k. It's a good start. :) My personal life is a sh&tshow right now so I am still proud.

I posted a few blogs about my progress which anyone is welcome to go read on my page if you want details, but essentially, I started off strong in week 1. Week 2 I hit the rising action and that helped me sail through, but I was starting to deviate (a lot) from my original plan. Week 3 hit me hard, all the deviation was causing me headaches now that I was near resolution, and writing became harder and harder. Week 4 I hit a major wall and stopped writing for 2 days. But like a bolt from the blue, the roadmap ahead popped into my brain and I went on a series of writing sprints down the stretch to meet my goal on Day 29. Day 30 I wrote another 2k or so to finish the book.

After the first few days I realized that (a) I was stressing out and (b) I wasn't producing any more *quality* writing than I usually do. In other words, I was forcing myself to bang out words but I could hardly stand to look at what I'd written whereas usually I *love* to read my stuff. So I let go of NaNo and just did my normal writing schedule in November.
