Felina Recently I have found out that a few of us on in this group live in Utah. I currently live in West Valley City and I was wondering if any of you know of any Used Book Stores in the Salt Lake area. I only know of one up by Weber State and thats quite the drive for me. I tried looking on the internet but I keep getting regular book stores. I have a bunch of books I want to unload and hopefully trade them in for a bunch of books I'll want to unload in the future. :)

Tara I'm in Utah too, but Utah Valley, so still a bit of a drive. However, I was browsing Provo's Center Street a few weeks ago and discovered that there were a few used and antique book stores. So if you're ever in the neighborhood, I would say check it out! I haven't investigated them too much, so I can't speak for their quality, but they looked fun. And of course, if all else fails, there's always DI. :)

I use to live in Utah. My Dad actually has an antique store so if you are a collector he would be the place to go to he is currently off 33rd South and about 3rd west but his new store will be in midvale he said that there is a used book store near there.

i always loved going to Sam Weller's in down town SLC. They have great new & used books. By the SLCC Redwood Campus you can pick up used lit books at a little college bookstore off 45th & redwood road near the albertson's. Pete's magazine's and books gets used books you have to be patient when looking but he will also take requests. he is in Downtown SLC. My favorite place to go was always the DI. Need lots of time but they always get a lot of good books. You can also hit the U of u bookstore on campus they have some used literature priced pretty good. I did love the King's English up near about East High. They have new and used.

Oh I so miss my old stomping grounds. Thanks for the memories!!!

I actually work very near your dad's store. What is the name of the store? Does he buy used books or just collector's books? He would be able to direct me towards the used bookstore that you mentioned was near his store right? Is he going to have two locations (one on 33rd and the other in midvale) or is he moving locations? Midvale is way out of the way for me but I'd like to drop by before he moves.

Geez lots of questions. Sorry.

Felina I'm leary about internet books swap sites because I really don't want to have to mess with postage and packaging.

Natalie I second Sam Weller's, GREAT store. They have a huge bargain section. And right now everything is on sale because they are moving to a new location. (plus it's right next to beehive tea room, one of the FUNNEST places to go get tea and a sandwich)

There's also a used book store in Bountiful, I think it's on main street? (I don't know Bountiful that well at all). It looks TEENY from the outside, but its HUGE. Found a couple of my favorite books for a buck and they looked brand new. I will have to talk to my friend that took me there and get the exact address for you.
*edited to add name and address of store: The Book Garden 2 North Main street in Bountiful

There's also Ken Sanders books. It's off of fourth south, i can't remember the exact east...

Also, the University of Utah bookstore has really great sales right after the semesters end. It's sometimes cheaper for them to sell remainders at a discount than to send them back to the publisher. Last time I was there I picked up several French language novels for a 88 cents each.

And this is why I am poor....too many good book stores around here!
