Cormac McCarthy's BLOOD MERIDIAN, Jack Ketchum's THE CROSSINGS, Joe Lansdale's DEAD IN THE WEST, Rick Spear's DEAD WEST, and my novel, THE GUNS OF SANTA SANGRE are good ones.

Quentin Wallace (quentinwallace) | 1 comments Hey all. I didn't see a thread for posting books, but I have a weird western novel on sale this week for .99 so I wanted to let everyone know.

Here's the blurb:

Brackett Hollister. Gunslinger. Magician. When his family was slain by a supernatural creature, Brackett dedicated his life to protecting the world from the forces of evil. Armed with both his guns and his magic, Brackett fights to make the dark safe.

When werewolves begin to gather in the old west, Brackett and his comrade in the battle against all things malevolent, African Warrior Chula, move to stop the wolves from overrunning all civilization. But the werewolves have a new leader, and he may prove to be more than Brackett and Chula can handle.

And here's the link:
http://www.amazon.com/Brackett-Hollis...

Check it out if you are so inclined and thanks for your time!

Andrew Hudson I've been working on some Weird Western tales this year and I'm going to be self-pubbing those (and a mix of other genre fiction) in 2015. The first two books will both be WW, one containing a pair of unnatural revenge stories set post-Civil War, the other a coming-of-age novella about a Native American youth who undergoes a powerful transformation - of a sort. Here's the cover art for book one:

Here's the cover art!

I've just uploaded that to Amazon, though I'll be putting it out through Goodreads as well. Because it's only available for pre-order at the moment you can't read a sample on the page, but I blogged an excerpt yesterday if anyone fancies taking a look at my writing style.

End Trails (on Amazon)

The Lying Room (an excerpt, on my blog)

audrey (oddmonster) | 1 comments I joined this group looking for weird west books like The God Eaters. I'll be checking out some of the recs here. Thanks!

Gwyn | 1 comments Welcome Oddmonster! I read The God Eaters a little while ago (and totally forgot to add it to my read books so thanks for the reminder ;) ). I'm trying to think of other books that have a similar vibe, but can't think of any right off. Lot's of good book reccomendations here though. Also if you're a fan of the genre you totally should check out the Weird Westerns group as well. It's a pretty active group :) https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/...

Andrew Hudson Happy New Year all!

My weird western min-ebook (meaning mini-book...does that work? :-)) is published tomorrow. The cover changed a little bit in the end:

Justin (justinbienvenue) Hey Everyone,
just joined this group as I am a writer and reader of the Weird West. Has anyone read Four Rode Out or Skin Medicine by Tim Curran? If so I'd be interested on your thoughts about it to recommend.

If you enjoy horror westerns, my werewolf western, THE GUNS OF SANTA SANGRE, from Samhain Publishing has been garnering a lot of praise...

"THE GUNS OF SANTA SANGRE is an old-fashioned, well-made dime novel, doing Louis L'Amour, Elmore Leonard and Richard Matheson proud."
--Bookgasm

"Bloody fights, desert vistas, a touch of romance, and plenty of werewolf action make THE GUNS OF SANTA SANGRE a fast-paced adventure. Screenwriter and author Red (DON'T STAND SO CLOSE) delivers a supernatural Western that should appeal to fans of the growing "weird West" genre."
--Library Journal

"In our mythos of the Old West, there are bad guys and even badder guys, But Eric Red's are the biggest, baddest guys of all..."
-- Jack Ketchum

"With THE GUNS OF SANTA SANGRE, Eric Red delivers a wild mash-up of action-thriller and bloody horror. This one really digs its claws into you from page one to last bite. Fast, furious, and wickedly fun. Highly recommended."
--Jonathan Maberry, New York Times bestselling author of Fire & Ash and Extinction Machine

"It's The Magnificent Seven meets Dog Soldiers! Taut, action packed and gory as hell! I couldn't put it down!"
--Arrow In The Head at JoBlo.com.

The book is available in trade paperback and Kindle on amazon at: http://amzn.to/1ztHMtq

audrey (oddmonster) | 1 comments I just read Dead Iron by Devon Monk and I really loved it. Has anyone read this one? Anyone read the rest of the series? I did cave in and get the second book.

Jay Sherer (jaysherer) | 1 comments Hey, guys! I am the co-author of a new weird western that we just released early. Figured it’d be cool to get the ebook out for people under stay-at-home orders. It’s called DEATH OF A BOUNTY HUNTER. It has horror elements, but it's probably closer to dark fantasy.

Figured you’d all dig it. It’s only $0.99 (a huge discount as a gift to everyone staying home), but this coming Friday, May 1, 2020, it’ll be FREE!

Easiest way to get it is visit www.deathofabountyhunter.com or just search Amazon for it. We appreciate reviews!

And then, later this summer, the full-cast audiobook is coming out.

audrey (oddmonster) | 1 comments Hey, if anyone's still around, I highly recommend Lone Women by Victor Lavalle. Very weird, very west, very good.

What's everyone else reading rn?
