Peter Poole won runner up in the last Kidwelly Book fest. However I have been unable to find a copy. Does anyone know anything about this author or information about the book?

B J Burton (bjburton) | 2680 comments That Kidwell-e Book Festival was all very strange. The organisers spent loads of money promoting it, had lots of writers lined up to read extracts, had a £10,000 prize for the author of the ebook chosen as winner by a panel of judges and were expecting over 20,000 people to attend. In the event only 100 people turned up and a lot of money was lost.
I remember looking up the shortlisted books at the time and failing to find the Peter Poole book. The only information I could find was that about 5 years ago an extract from the book was short-listed for another award. I think the author is an artist and film-maker. He's probably on Facebook.

I'll have research this. I expect someone made a good profit.

B J Burton (bjburton) | 2680 comments From what I recall only the winning author made a profit, walking away with a cheque for £10,000. I think it was all backed by an enthusiastic supporter of indie writers who lives in the Kidwelly area and who found to his cost that the public isn't really interested in the background to books. All most readers want is a book to read. Only if an author is famous do readers have any interest in seeing them in the flesh.
The only baffling aspect to me was the fact that, like Mick, I couldn't find a published copy of one of the shortlisted books.

Yes it is baffling, I too have found the same information, but no book.
