Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 2167 comments It struck me it was time to open nominations for a group read for January.

Once we get enough nominations, I'll open a poll.

Two nominations to a person, please.

What book about the Tudors or Tudor England would y'all like to read?

message 15: by Karen (new)

Karen (2noelle) There are a couple of books I'm eyeing. Someone suggested Carolly Erickson's The Spanish Queen. I would like to read that one as well.

I also would like to read Alison Weir's Elizabeth of York

Is that nonfiction or fiction, Jo? Sounds interesting.

At the moment I am not buying new books, and already have this on my TBR shelf, so I would up for it if chosen.

Not that it matters to me, because I am also interested in the Plantagenets, but Richard III was not a Tudor. I guess it would be up to Susanna if she wants to widen the scope of the group to include the Plantagents - we have discussed The White Queen TV series already, after all!

Looks like non-fiction. I agree, looks very interesting.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 2167 comments Those of you who have read Sunne in Splendour - does it end with Richard's death? Is Elizabeth of York a major character?

message 27: by Samantha (new)

Samantha (samanthajw) | 91 comments As much as I would love to read Sunne, Elizabeth is not a main character, from what I recall. It's much more about Edward IV & Richard III.

message 28: by happy (new)

happy (happyone) | 106 comments That is my recollection as well.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 2167 comments OK. I'm going to say that's not really right for a group read, but fine for a buddy read.

message 30: by Duane (new)

Duane Parker (tduaneparkeryahoocom) | 11 comments My 2nd recommendation: Innocent Traitor by Allison Weir. Thanks

It's nonfiction.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 2167 comments OK, I believe that's a good number of nominations - I'll go open a poll.

Also disallowed Stormbird, as it's set at the start of the Wars of the Roses, and is not really about the Tudors (major characters listed start with Henry VI and Margaret of Anjou). This is another book that would be great as a buddy read.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 2167 comments Poll's open!

You'll find it here: https://www.goodreads.com/poll/show/9... - or on the group's main page.
