Shelby *trains flying monkeys* LOL. I probably won't end up there but it sure is fun trying.

Cindy (cyndil62) | 1774 comments I see you gave The Help 5 stars! WooHoo-it's one that I really want to read! You didn't like The Stolen Child that well? It was very different huh? Oh Shelby, you will make it to 100-no problem! There are too many good books to read and it's great to have such a support system (CoL) which makes it so easy to keep adding more!

Shelby *trains flying monkeys* There are so many good books! I keep adding to my list thanks to COL. lol.
I did like the Stolen Child but not as much as the Help. I loved that book. I'm picky about what I give 5 stars too.

Shelby *trains flying monkeys* Ok. I have to read four more to be at the halfway mark for the year. I might just do it :)

message 12: by Mandy (new)

Mandy (mettakaruna) Good luck Shelby! I'm rooting for you. I could do it if I add in the kids books that I read to my kids at night. LOL Other than that, I will be lucky if I hit 30.

Shelby *trains flying monkeys* 48. Pawpaw Patch A Novel
not a good book at all!

message 14: by Holli (new)

Holli Wow Shelby, you read a ton! :)

45. The Good Earth

47. The Face of Death"

Shelby, How did you like Bitsy's Bait & BBQ? It's on my shelf but haven't read it yet. Great list!

Shelby *trains flying monkeys* 49. On the Beaten Path An Appalachian Pilgrimage I have always had the dream of hiking the AT so I read every book about it I can.

Holli, It was a really cute book. I liked it. I've read some more by Pamela Morsi and liked them too. She makes her characters likeable.

Jennifer W | 2175 comments How was Eyes, Shelby? I've heard mixed reviews.

Shelby *trains flying monkeys* It was really really slow about halfway through the book. I almost didn't finish it. Then it got really good and ended up being a good book. The language made it read slow for me too.

message 23: by Holli (new)

Holli What did you think about Crazy Love?

Shelby *trains flying monkeys* I know now why you nominated it for the club to read. Gives alot to think about! I liked it. I'm glad she shared her story. I hope it helps more women. It's not a book that "preaches" at women. She just tells her story and hopes it will help.

message 25: by Holli (new)

Holli Exactly what I thought...I thought it was good. Sad book and a book that hit home for me with the verbal crap but I was glad to read it. I hope others do as well and that it helps women out there in the same situation....

message 26: by Mandy (new)

Mandy (mettakaruna) I think I'm going to pick this book up this weekend.

Usako (bbmeltdown) | 654 comments YAY! You're halfway there! PHEW! I heard Thin Air was fantastic! If I am able to cram it in, that'll be on my TBR list.

Shelby *trains flying monkeys* Mandy Sue you'll love it.

Thin Air was pretty good. I keep thinking about it even after I read it.

message 31: by Mandy (new)

Mandy (mettakaruna) Shelby I added The Lost Recipe to my TBR shelf. Thanks!!

Shelby *trains flying monkeys* 61. Stardust Pretty cute fantasy. I see there is a movie out too. I wouldn't mind seeing it. I like seeing how someone's interpretation is different than mine.
62. The Miracle Life of Edgar Mint A Novel Liked this one.

message 33: by Usako (new)

Usako (bbmeltdown) | 654 comments Shelby, Stardust the movie is adorable. I'm not sure about the difference between the film and book since I haven't read the novel. But I was enchanted.

message 34: by Holli (new)

Holli I loved Stardust the movie.... it was really cute!

Bloomin’Chick (Jo) aka The Eclectic Spoonie (bloominchick) (bowing down in front of my computer exclaiming "I'm not worthy" over & over) HOLY COW girl! I am impressed! SO impressed!

Shelby *trains flying monkeys* You girls are sweet! I go through periods when I can't get enough to read and then a period where I won't read much at all. I guess right now is a book time! :)

message 38: by Usako (new)

Usako (bbmeltdown) | 654 comments *applauds Shelby* You can do it!

message 39: by Cindy (new)

Cindy (cyndil62) | 1774 comments Shelby, Love your hair!! I remember I really enjoyed On Mystic Lake; still have to read Those Who Save Us. You go girl; reading up a storm!

I get like that too. I'll go through a period where there is always a book in my hand then I could go months without reading.

Shelby *trains flying monkeys* August:
65. The Picture of Dorian Gray
66. The Confessions of Max Tivoli

These two books were both definately not my favorites.

Shelby *trains flying monkeys* 67. Never Let Me Go This one just never panned out for me.
68. The Girl Who Stopped Swimming Good one. Great southern characters.

message 43: by Cindy (new)

Cindy (cyndil62) | 1774 comments Go Shelby! You're reading up a storm; I think I've slowed down a little lately. Only 32 books to go to make it to 100, yea!

message 44: by Krys (new)

Krys (incognerdo) | 140 comments Oscar Wilde is a bit tough to get into. I really enjoyed "Ideal Husband," but more for the tongue-in-cheek of high society of living.

Have you ever read any of the narratives from the Pacific Crest Trail? (It goes from Mexico to Canada through California. AT and PCT are my life goals.) I keep hearting Cactus Eaters is a good one... and there's one about a couple doing it together. I believe its called "A Blistered Kind of Love."

Shelby *trains flying monkeys* I have Cactus Eaters on my wish list. I haven't heard of the ones from The Pacific Crest Trail?

message 46: by Krys (new)

Krys (incognerdo) | 140 comments Cactus Eaters is about the Pacific Crest Trail. :) It is sad there aren't more narratives about trail life, isn't it?

Shelby *trains flying monkeys* I know! I love it. Before my leg acted up I did alot of hiking, kayaking and mtn biking. But now I seem to just eat chocolate! lol

Shelby *trains flying monkeys* 71. Moose A Memoir of Fat Camp
72. The Magic Of You I kinda really liked this one and it's usually not my cup of tea. Cute book.
