man, this group is dying so bad. It needs to get like renovated or something so that people will start being active again

um.....let me think. For starters, send out a warning message to all members of the group. Tell them that they MUST post soon. Anyone who is not active or who has not posted anytime before 2014 will be deleted.

I suggest adding a topic called "Activity" for members who want to or promise to remain active to post in.

Also, cleaning up the topics of spam or things from members who are no longer in the group and such would help too I think.

Hmm I'm hesitant to delete members.

I mean a third of them have never posted, they just like reading and removing a member means the page fully reloads which can be a hassle when you're removing loads of people

Yeah I know. I'm a mod in a lot of groups that have the exact same issue. I usually offer to do it for people since I don't mind going through the long list of people.

If you dont want to do it, you could grant me temporary modship and I'll do it. When all the members who are not active are gone I can de-mod myself unless I am deemed fit to maintain the role.

I don't think that's a good idea. I went on a hiatus from goodreads for a bit to get back in the swing of school and I know I would be royally pissed if I returned to be deleted from one of my favorite groups. Maybe trying to do a more generic revamp would be better, send everyone some messages, maybe if that fails go so far as to start new with a new group the exact same and just sort of wipe out old stuff and start fresh (spring cleaning ??? Idk) (but don't delete this group, keep it around. Maybe lock the topics. Maybe keep the character format the same though so people can just copy and paste their older characters from here if they don't want to make new ones)
Idk that's just an idea but deleting people is not the way to go

*shrugs* alright. I just know that when I think about joining a group, one of the things I check is member list, like if I have any friends in the group, how many members there are and the biggest thing is how many comments people have.

As a general rule I don't join any groups that have large numbers of people who are inactive or do not post.


But whatever y'all want to do with the group is your business.


If anything, I advise making a new group and basically starting over. Make a topic or put in announcements the new group with the link to join the new group.

No, I understand. I was merely offering a tactic that has worked for me in reviving groups several times in the past. I figured since you guys wanted the group to be active again I would lend you help by telling you the methods that help me.
