Reccomendations, anyone? (And I mean fiction. Not cookbooks or owner's manuals). :D
I'll throw in the one I can think of: "Aura" by Carlos Fuentes.
Oh, I thought of another....a book of short stories by Lorrie Moore: "Self-Help."

If on a Winter's Night A Traveler
by Italo Calvino is gorgeous and quite funny, if you read it with enough patience.
