Yeah, I've been busy as well, feel like I'm just settling down to read some. It's my first Tim Curran book although I've got Hive on my Kindle waiting to be read

I haven't read a Tim Curran I haven't liked though this was my first full length novel of his. Its a long one, but it definitely grabs you.

We have started! I am at 10% and it is going good. The shit is about to hit the fan, I think. Curran is a great writer.

I'm in, too. Just found the thread... I am at 10%. I absolutely loved the prologue - reminded me a bit of Poe's Ghost Ship. And it inspired me to research the ship.

As Nikki said, so far very atmospheric, but he does maybe over do it showing us the anxiety building from several corresponding point of views.

Also been inspired to research caimans - a very Quinn from Jaws type moment. The setting is a difficult one for me on a personal level, so its definitely going to be strong horror...

The prologue was superb, Jason. I almost felt it happening to me.

It does seem long on the Kindle, but the description says 334 pages. That's pretty short compared to some of the books I have read lately.

I'm up to p.37 and the shit really has hit the fan! You're right Addy, this is shorter than some we've read recently. I'm trying to guess whether Saks is a bad guy or not. He might be the kind of guy to get some of them through, but I don't think they'll be building a runway!

I think you misread Adam. My Kindle says 534. I'm on Page 59... tension building...

I can see Saks going either way, too, Angie. Or going out the most horrifically :)

I just read the description on GR. Either way, I for one am glad the book is thick. I like this guy's style.

I think Saks is going to be a survivor for at least a little while. He is a nasty dude, and tough, but how much will that matter. The fog is a serious equalizer.

Page 56 of 534 here. Totally agree with you all that its building ominously, and felt the same way as Jason about there being some repitition regarding what was happening from several different view points. But that's just a minor complaint. Looking forward to the inevitable poo-fan-splat.

He is isn't he , just one minute being a total hard ass who's out just for himself, but then caring about what happens to his men. He just can't seem decide who he is!

I wish my edition had page numbers, but I think I am a little over 100 pages. (view spoiler)[I think Saks may be one of the more interesting characters because of what he may or may not be hiding. Gosling is the other heavy character in my opinion. I think these two will tangle before all is said and done. Everyone else - with the exception of George, maybe - seems expendable at this point. Adam, I don't know how I did it, but my Kindle version originally just had some 11,000-ish number, but now it has page numbers too. So there might be a way to fix it - maybe someone else here can tell you how.

Thanks, Jason. I have a Nook but I use the Kindle app, too. Most books come with page numbers, but this one was actually gifted to me and it just gives locations. No big deal, really. I am never satisfied, I guess.

I have the kindle app on my iPad and if I touch the bottom of the screen whilst reading it changes from locations to pages or pages to locations. Give it a go.

That's worked for me, I like to see the page numbers, and I'm up to p.98. Yeah, the little history of his that we got(view spoiler)[it will be split into the three of them. Saks, Gosling and then Cook, but no one will realize because he's so quiet! And the saying is, the quiet ones are the ones to watch out for!<\spoiler> (hide spoiler)]
