Bill (shiftyj1) | 4891 comments I don't think we are officially starting until Monday, Kate! I'm not the fastest reader anyway, so you'd probably be able to catch up pretty easy :)

Kate | 3525 comments Count me in then. :)

Angie | 141 comments It's good that Kate and Addy are joining in as well. Got to have some girls in the group:)

Kate | 3525 comments Got to keep those boys in check, Angie. ;)

Adam Light (goodreadscomadamlight) | 964 comments Since we all seem to read at varying paces, lets make sure to use spoiler tags. And you gals only wish you could keep us in line. Never happen!

Addy | 5111 comments Nice pic Adam!

message 14: by Adam (new) - rated it 5 stars

Ms. Nikki (miznikki) | 13944 comments I hope you all enjoy it! Very atmospheric :)

Kaisersoze | 294 comments I've been waiting to read this, so I'll join in if no-one minds?

message 20: by Bill (new) - rated it 5 stars

Bill (shiftyj1) | 4891 comments Me too, Adam! Just finished Whom the Gods Would Destroy, so I am ready to go!

message 21: by Adam (new) - rated it 5 stars

Adam Light (goodreadscomadamlight) | 964 comments Finished Summer Of Night and ready for this one, now. Wish I was off work.

Angie | 141 comments Yeah, I've been busy as well, feel like I'm just settling down to read some. It's my first Tim Curran book although I've got Hive on my Kindle waiting to be read

message 23: by Addy (new) - rated it 3 stars

Addy | 5111 comments I haven't read a Tim Curran I haven't liked though this was my first full length novel of his. Its a long one, but it definitely grabs you.

Kaisersoze | 294 comments Okay, we're supposed to have officially started, right?

message 25: by Bill (new) - rated it 5 stars

Bill (shiftyj1) | 4891 comments We have started! I am at 10% and it is going good. The shit is about to hit the fan, I think. Curran is a great writer.

message 26: by Adam (new) - rated it 5 stars

Adam Light (goodreadscomadamlight) | 964 comments 15%. Shit hit the fan alright!

Jason Parent | 741 comments I'm in, too. Just found the thread... I am at 10%. I absolutely loved the prologue - reminded me a bit of Poe's Ghost Ship. And it inspired me to research the ship.

As Nikki said, so far very atmospheric, but he does maybe over do it showing us the anxiety building from several corresponding point of views.

Also been inspired to research caimans - a very Quinn from Jaws type moment. The setting is a difficult one for me on a personal level, so its definitely going to be strong horror...

And the shit is about to hit the fan!

message 28: by Adam (new) - rated it 5 stars

Adam Light (goodreadscomadamlight) | 964 comments The prologue was superb, Jason. I almost felt it happening to me.

It does seem long on the Kindle, but the description says 334 pages. That's pretty short compared to some of the books I have read lately.

Angie | 141 comments I'm up to p.37 and the shit really has hit the fan! You're right Addy, this is shorter than some we've read recently. I'm trying to guess whether Saks is a bad guy or not. He might be the kind of guy to get some of them through, but I don't think they'll be building a runway!

Jason Parent | 741 comments I think you misread Adam. My Kindle says 534. I'm on Page 59... tension building...

I can see Saks going either way, too, Angie. Or going out the most horrifically :)

message 32: by Adam (new) - rated it 5 stars

Adam Light (goodreadscomadamlight) | 964 comments I just read the description on GR. Either way, I for one am glad the book is thick. I like this guy's style.

I think Saks is going to be a survivor for at least a little while. He is a nasty dude, and tough, but how much will that matter. The fog is a serious equalizer.

message 33: by Bill (new) - rated it 5 stars

Bill (shiftyj1) | 4891 comments There can be nothing good in glowing fog...nothing.

Jason Parent | 741 comments or in sewage-like water...

message 35: by Adam (new) - rated it 5 stars

Adam Light (goodreadscomadamlight) | 964 comments Or with giant worms...

Angie | 141 comments I've got to catch up to you guys, giant worms...hmmm are you just joking?

message 37: by Adam (new) - rated it 5 stars

Adam Light (goodreadscomadamlight) | 964 comments Of course, Angie. I'm always joking.

Angie | 141 comments I know, lol. That's why I need to catch up! I had a busy day helping my son's partner jayne get party clothes for her works Christmas party. She ended up looking really good:-)

message 39: by Addy (new) - rated it 3 stars

Addy | 5111 comments I loved Saks!...lol...he's a nasty character!

message 40: by Kaisersoze (last edited Dec 17, 2013 07:46PM) (new) - rated it 4 stars

Kaisersoze | 294 comments Page 56 of 534 here. Totally agree with you all that its building ominously, and felt the same way as Jason about there being some repitition regarding what was happening from several different view points. But that's just a minor complaint. Looking forward to the inevitable poo-fan-splat.

Angie | 141 comments Addy wrote: "I loved Saks!...lol...he's a nasty character!"

He is isn't he , just one minute being a total hard ass who's out just for himself, but then caring about what happens to his men. He just can't seem decide who he is!

message 42: by Adam (new) - rated it 5 stars

Adam Light (goodreadscomadamlight) | 964 comments I wish my edition had page numbers, but I think I am a little over 100 pages. (view spoiler)

Jason Parent | 741 comments Adam, I don't know how I did it, but my Kindle version originally just had some 11,000-ish number, but now it has page numbers too. So there might be a way to fix it - maybe someone else here can tell you how.

message 44: by Adam (new) - rated it 5 stars

Adam Light (goodreadscomadamlight) | 964 comments Thanks, Jason. I have a Nook but I use the Kindle app, too. Most books come with page numbers, but this one was actually gifted to me and it just gives locations. No big deal, really. I am never satisfied, I guess.

message 45: by Kate (new) - rated it 4 stars

Kate | 3525 comments I have the kindle app on my iPad and if I touch the bottom of the screen whilst reading it changes from locations to pages or pages to locations. Give it a go.

message 46: by Adam (new) - rated it 5 stars

Adam Light (goodreadscomadamlight) | 964 comments Tried it already, Kte. Thanks. It doesn't work on this one.

Angie | 141 comments That's worked for me, I like to see the page numbers, and I'm up to p.98. So giant worms, Adam :)(view spoiler)

Jason Parent | 741 comments I'm on page 96 Angie. With like two paragraphs, I now find Cook the most interesting character. My anti-hero?

Angie | 141 comments Yeah, the little history of his that we got(view spoiler)

Pierre | 200 comments I'm in. First Tim Curran book for me too.
