J.J. DiBenedetto | 651 comments Dridre was kind enough to visit us for a chat last week, and she's also been generous enough to offer her book "Parallel Attraction" for our weekly read and review:

https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Enter New York Times bestselling author Deidre Knight's time-bending universe of warring worlds, intimate betrayals, and unspent desire with the first installment of her Parallel series.

"...humorous...heart-wrenching...compelling.... What a page-turner!" - Gena Showalter, author of The Darkest Craving.

An unexpectedly sensual connection...

Finding a mate is the farthest thing from alien warrior Jared Bennett's mind. After years of exile on Earth, the king is close to developing a weapon that will alter the fabric of time and hopefully bring peace to his own people. But a chance encounter with scientist Kelsey Wells ignites a scorching desire far more consuming than talks of rebellion.

To Kelsey, Jared's heritage is exotic and alarming - nothing like the logical, scientific facts of her own world. But despite her fears, she can't deny the heated response of her body every time the magnetic leader comes near.

A dangerous allure...

As the bond between them grows, Jared struggles with a shocking family secret that keeps him from claiming Kelsey as his own. And a visitor from the future escalates Jared's battle for his people's freedom to a fever pitch, forcing the lovers to face one inescapable fact: Time can save them, as much as it can destroy them.

*The Parallel Series was originally released as the Midnight Warriors series. Kindle editions now include updated scenes and bonus material!*

You can find it on Amazon:

G.G. (ggatcheson) | 169 comments I just started chapter four, and love the book so far.
I love that it's so early in and already we can get in the protagonists' minds, their emotions being so strong and all.

I have a silly question though. Why was Jared called Jareshk in the prologue except for once: 'Jared gave a short nod..." It kind of threw me off in the first chapter since I didn't associate Jared with Jareshk. I thought they were different beings. Did I miss something?

Edited: Ok I now understand that his real name is Jareshkadau.

ACK! Just saw this! I hope you continued to enjoy the book. Those alien names. Ugh. You know, it's hard. You want them to have believable and real names *here on Earth* (you=me or any writer in this genre writing Earth-based sci-fi). On the other hand, you need to reference their true alien names. But I can see why that might confuse. :)

Deidre Knight Also wanted to add that for the holidays, I've lowered the prices on this whole series. Book one, PARALLEL ATTRACTION, is only 2.99 and the others are 3.99. Regular pricing will again by 4.99 in January. As all indie authors will attest, the pricing question is such a tough one. But given that these are very "meaty" books, i.e. not 50K books, but 110K ones, I am mostly planning on pricing to be 4.99. So grab the holiday sale while it's on! (Sorry, had to put my sales person hat on...it's a hard one for me to resist since I've spent almost all my adult life in sales of one kind or another, including as an agent!) :)

Happy holidays!! XO

G.G. (ggatcheson) | 169 comments Of course I'm still enjoying the book! I'm at chapter 22 now and wished I had more time to read.

My comment wasn't meant as a criticism. I understand the believable real name problem. I do write about aliens too. It was just that for a brief moment, I wondered where 'my' Jaresh had gone. I hadn't noticed the mention of his Earth name before. I only realized it after I went back to check. That's what happens when you are strongly pulled into a story. BTW The prologue was awesome.:)
