MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 5312 comments As it gets closer to the end of the year, I always try to look back at my year in reading.

Sometimes it works well. Some times I'm flabbergasted.

It's one of those series that I like more than I think I would, if that makes sense. Kinda like White Trash Zombie - though I was a bit disappointed in the third of those this year.

message 13: by Felina (new)

Felina Ooooo I liked 14. That was a fun easy fast paced read. It's one of those great feeling books. I don't remember everything about it but I remember the feeling/texture of that book and it was a great. The same texture I remember for The Dark Tower books. *sigh* I could go for that again.

It starts with Ex-Heroes. That might be a good followup to Steelheart.

I liked it ok, too, though it wasn't one of my faves for the year.

message 22: by Felina (new)

Felina I don't think I would say it was a fav this year. I did like the 'main character female isn't a total waste of space damsel in distress love sick idiot' quality of the book. :)

message 23: by colleen the convivial curmudgeon, Not a book hipster! (new)

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) | 2976 comments Agreed. I didn't like as much the (view spoiler) or whatever thing, though.

("Or whatever" is my new default for when I only vaguely remember something.) ;)

message 24: by Felina (new)

Felina Ha ha. That is a pretty big trope. (view spoiler) But this was written some time ago. I wonder if it was as bad a trope back then.

message 25: by Chris , cookie guilt (new)

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2450 comments I really didn't dislike The Blue Sword. Those that I listed as disappointments were just books I thought I'd like better than I did.

I think the only one I really hated was The Shadow of the TortureChris.

message 26: by colleen the convivial curmudgeon, Not a book hipster! (new)

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) | 2976 comments Mayhap not. I don't really know. I would probably have liked it better if I'd read it when I was younger, before I got so jaded. ;)

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2450 comments I would have probably liked it better when I was a teenager.

Of course, that's when I was loving movies like Beverly Hills Cop and Howard the Duck.

lol. At the risk of sounding like a drug pusher here I'm going to point out that the Milkweek series is only three books in total (hardly sounds like a series at all...right?). They are also quick reads (I finished them all in one week), so when you think about it, it's really just like reading one book....perhaps.... :)
