What SF and fantasy books do you read that go in for weird worlds? The sort of thing where you might have to alert another genre reader that they may find the work a little odd, to brace them?

Dan Simmons Hyperion novels need a bit of prep work for someone not ready for it.

I started reading Daughter of Smoke and Bone and so far the characters are pretty wierd and need a good imagination to picture them in your head...
