Anna (aetm) | 228 comments It was mentioned a few times in the long topic of what are you reading now, but I think it more than deserves its own thread since it's such an awesome series, and perfectly Nordic crime related thing.

I have beome badly addicted to Lilyhammer.

Imagine a guy escape from Sopranos into the middle of nothing in a small city in Norway... with a ton of humor like in the Headhunters, with proper drama, and with a bunch of funny Norwegian hillbillies around there... yes, give me 12 more seasons of it now! :)

Two seasons in Netflix now.

I haven't tried to look for it yet, but will...

message 3: by Mary (new)

Mary (maryschumacher) | 25 comments I'm finishing up the second season now. While I liked the first season better, I'm still enjoying the scenes of Lillehammer and the Norwegian approach to life, which as Anna says, sometimes contrasts hilariously with the wise guy from New York. I hope there are more seasons to come.

Thanks Anna....we watched both on Netflix and absolutely loved it.
Rather fun to see that the UK successful series Broadchurch, currently running in NL right now, is as of tonight showing in Norway. Curious how they will like it. Highly recommend Lilyhammer to everyone. Music even is excellent but the OTT humour and good acting is fun and good drama.

I've been through the first year of Lilyhammer, and I am starting the second year now, it is addicting. Yes, Anna I would also like 12 more seasons. Ever the optimist. It's taking time away from reading, Oh well.

Anna (aetm) | 228 comments Good news everyone...
The 3rd season of Lilyhammer will be made. http://www.engadget.com/2014/01/15/ne... :)

Gary Van Cott | 132 comments This sounds kind of interesting. I am more into books than TV but I have requested season 1 from our library.

Like Anna said we want 12 seasons now!

message 12: by Anna (new)

Anna (aetm) | 228 comments I couldn't resist until the 3rd season will be out, so we've rewatched the whole series already :)

Somone mentioned Arne Dahl series but it's not on Netflix streaming...

message 13: by Gary (new)

Gary Van Cott | 132 comments I am 3/4 of the way through the first season of Lilyhammer. I got it on DVD from our local library. It is pretty good although I prefer mysteries and prefer to read instead of watching them on TV. The Arne Dahl series was on the (obscure) MHz network. The channel it was shown on here seems to be owned by our local PBS station. MHz is currently showing Swedish Wallander programs.

message 14: by Bonnie (new)

Bonnie | 19 comments I LOVE this series and am very excited to hear there will be a season 3, although how can they top the last episode of season 2? Norwegians know how to lampoon themselves, but they always come out on top!

message 15: by Anna (new)

Anna (aetm) | 228 comments Oh I'm sure season 3 will be even yummier.
We watched The Bothersome Man on netflix yesterday as it had Trond Fausa (the guy who played Torgeir Lien in Lilyhammer - such adorable character), but that was a bit too weird and serious.
Hm, good hint about the library having movies (I always forget). Looks like Austin doesn't have Arne Dahl movies, buuuut on the plus side, I will be pretty busy moving, packing and unpacking the next month.

I see we've finally gotten "The Bridge", looks gruesome. On PBS.

message 17: by Gary (new)

Gary Van Cott | 132 comments Which one? In addition to the American TV show isn't there the original Swedish-Danish version and a British-French one.

message 18: by Ken, Moderator (U.S.A.) (new)

Ken Fredette (klfredette) | 6982 comments Mod
The Swedish-Danish

message 19: by Gary (new)

Gary Van Cott | 132 comments I was thinking about the British-French one and it may be called The Tunnel.

So now you have something good to wait for! Here in Finland we have already seen season two!

message 24: by Gary (new)

Gary Van Cott | 132 comments We watched the last episode of season 2 of Lilyhammer on Netflix a few nights ago. We have a new TV with wifi and Netflix and can watch directly on the TV which is really nice.

For those of you who like Lillyhammer the third season is coming out this Friday (in the US). It's on Netflix so it may be everywhere now.

message 26: by Gary (new)

Gary Van Cott | 132 comments Thanks for the update.

message 27: by Lori (new)

Lori | 47 comments There is a series on netflix called The Killing, based on a Danish series. I am in NY and watched this series. I was so addicted to it. Wish I could see the Danish version, but it's not available I think. This is a quality series that I really enjoyed.

It's for sale for big $. Try Amazon.

message 29: by Dalia (new)

Dalia | 19 comments The Danish version- Bron/Broen- is available on Hulu. Unfortunately Hulu makes its paying customers watch commercials :-(

message 30: by Andrea (new)

Andrea | 13 comments I bought the 3 season Danish Forbrydelsen on amazon (dvd) for about 25.00 US dollars, and I purchased a region free DVD player ($30.00) so I could watch it, along with other DVD sets that are region 2. It was definitely worth it.

message 31: by Lori (new)

Lori | 47 comments thanks for the info. Has anyone been able to watch an American show, The Blacklist? It's quite addictive also :)

message 32: by Christine (new)

Christine (littlefoot) | 1 comments The Danish/Swedish version of The Bridge is on Netflix (UK). I just binge watched season 2. They also have the Swedish version of Wallander and I have just started watching Arne Dahl on there.

Well I've watched all of Lilyhammer's third year, from 11 AM until 6 PM. Had to break for lunch. Now they need a forth year!

message 35: by Ellie (new)

Ellie M (elliemcc11) | 65 comments We need to finish the second season then we have the third to enjoy straight after!

Finnish it. Go on to the third, then watch what they put on after the credits. May not be a forth year? I thought they left it open, but who knows?

Amazing....all in one go! Can imagine it was fun. We are being strict and watching only two at a time. Want the fun to last :-) even love the music....

Good point Kenneth.....but hope they do.

Well, watched season three and what a lot of weirdness and action but really fabulous that Bruce Springsteen plays the brother hit man in the final episode and very nice ending ballad....nice touches. Hope they return with a fourth season....

message 39: by Gisela (new)

Gisela Hafezparast | 97 comments Following the recommendations I bought Lilyhammer for my family as a "family watch" for Christmas and we watched it since then. Hilarious, we all loved it and I have ordered the 2nd series which comes out in the UK in February. Hope it stays as funny. Any others of that type? Oh and that snow, living in the South-East of the UK for the past 30 years, I am so envious of that snow (I am Bavarian, so used to snow). Beautiful.

message 40: by Anna (new)

Anna (aetm) | 228 comments Iʻve still got a few episodes left to see of the third season even for the first time. What a surprise huh? I love the first two seasons, yet now Iʻve got some kind of cultural/language crisis in my "real life" that Iʻm trying to resolve somehow.
