Why didn't you like Bubs, Sally? It was a rough character, no doubt, but very spot-on. (Says the recovering alky.)
And I definitely don't think a Tolstoy comparison is inappropriate. I dropped Shakespeare's name a few times in my descriptions of it!
I liked Season Two's version the best.
Bubs just was so ... predictable. Predictably cheesy. His friend Johnny still creeps me out from the 90s movie Kids, so I could never quite fall for the pair of them.

Addicts are pretty predictable. That's the insanity. But yeah, that Johnny guy was creepy and I never liked him.
I'm going to slowly acquire the box sets. This show is the Anna Karenina of television, and I'm not exaggerating. Did you know the writers actually worked in the Baltimore PD, school system, and newspaper? No wonder! You can't make some of that up.
I just looooooved how everyone worked in the rank system, even the boys on the corner.
