New Year's resolutions!

I too would like to read more outside of my normal genre, which is paranormal/fantasy. I'm going to try to read more genres that I typically like (mystery, suspense, horror, thriller).

Anyway...
Wish you all to reach your goals!

Well, while my TBR pile IS approaching mountain range proportions, it still isn't quite as high as my READ pile. But I'm also trying to be more selective in my purchases--even "freebie" purchases.
My main resolution is a nested one. 1)find a new home 2) get moved in and unpacked in a reasonable length of time and 3) to do a LOT more downsizing of "stuff" in the new house.
Lanie--knitting and crocheting are fun and can help to keep you calm and centered in a hectic world. Not to mention, you have something to actually show for your efforts at the end of each project. While both hobbies can get expensive, again, at least you have something to show for that expense, unlike, say, taking a tranq or drinking to try to calm yourself down. I will advice you to make the investment in good needles/hooks. While a bit more expensive to begin with, they will last longer and make your life much easier in the long run, and will more than pay for themselves.

I have goals: Finish writing Wolf's Vengeance and Wolf's Princess. Wolf's Princess is the book I've been wanting to write for almost three years. Neither I nor the hero/heroine were ready three years ago. But in the past 6 months they and their story have come together in my head. I'm really looking forward to writing it! Sky and Rose are going to be awesome!
I have chosen a word for 2014 and that word is Love. I want to work on loving the people around me as they are. I want to love myself as I am. I want to find things to love about the day job instead of whining about it. And I want to love less stuff. My small apartment is crowded with stuff that I don't use and don't need. I plan to thin it out over the next few months. You know that that saying: Stuff is to be used, people are to be loved. Not the other way around.
And I'm going to take time to knit and spin without feeling guilty! Lanie, I applaud your plan to knit and crochet. I remember getting really frustrated when I was first learning, but once I got the hang of it, it became therapy. I agree with Ann, quality materials may cost more in the beginning, but it makes the experience and the end product well worth it.
Happy New Year!

No thanks needed, Maddy :) I thought it would be interesting to find out what goals other people set for themselves.
I wish you best of luck with Wolf's Vengeance and Wolf's Princess. It already sounds promising :) When you said that neither you, nor the hero/heroine were ready three years ago, I immediately thought that it takes time for good wine to mature. It's the same with books. I see so many rushed things out there, it's always nice to know there are authors who think of quality. :)
Danielle, best of luck with your TBR pile,
and Ann, hope you'll find and settle in your new home soon!
Have a great year, ladies!

Thanks Ann:), I'm not really sure where to get started with it but I'm glad you mentioned getting better needles. I wasn't sure if there was a difference between the cheap/expensive ones. I totally wanna make some cute hats and blankets to give to family! Lol, I'm not a drinker and a tranq just sounds like a scary thing to try when you have siblings.

As for life, work out more, and balance work life and fun life.
Oh and the big one... Don't walk into a Barnes and Nobels and buy books that go on to my TBR list. 0_O ...lol

Have you thought about your New Year's writing/reading resolution?
Here's mine:
1. Write the second book in my Witch World series
2. Write a short story
3. Read more new authors
4. Try something outside of my usual genre
5. Stay positive! :)
What's yours?
